Family Research Council President and former Louisiana House member Tony Perkins endorsed Rob Maness in the Louisiana's U.S. Senate race Monday (July 28), potentially boosting the candidate's credentials among social conservatives.

Maness, a Republican, is running against U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, in the state's high profile Senate race this fall. A Tea Party favorite, Maness has tried to position himself as the most conservative candidate on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Most people consider Cassidy to be the Republicans' frontrunner in the election, but Perkins, a former Louisiana House member, has not been shy about criticizing Cassidy's conservative credentials. "If the Republicans want to win, they actually need to find a stronger candidate," said Perkins about Cassidy in January.

Maness, a retired Air Force colonel who has never run for office before, received former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement in May. But he has struggled to keep up with Cassidy when it comes to fundraising. One recent poll on the Louisiana Senate race did even list Maness as a candidate.

I don’t care if the GOP loses in races like this

When the GOP elite conspire to give us a choice of Democrat or Democrat Lite, against a TEA party candidate, I hope the TEA party candidate takes enough votes to make sure the real democrat gets elected.

At least you know your enemy, then, and he does not wear your uniform and pretend to be on your side.

That’s great just great! How better to insure that Obama doesn’t get checked or impeached and that he can continue appointing RAT judges.
