Washington is desperate for Republicans to impeach Obama
Hotair ^ | 07/29/2014 | Noah Rothman

Quite unlike six years ago, President Barack Obama has become a liability for his fellow Democrats running for federal office.

Surveys have consistently shown that the GOP is well positioned to take back at least three of the six seats they need to regain control over the Senate and reduce Obama’s final two years in office to a series of vetoes. In another five seats, Republican candidates remain competitive.

The president is no longer energizing his unique coalition of voters. This year, they are staying home. Democrats are desperate to reawaken those young, single, women, and minority voters and get them back out to the polls. Without Obama at the top of the ticket, Democrats appear set to face another brutal midterm election cycle.

The president is no longer a transformative figure. He cannot bestride the world like the colossus which he was once portrayed. Now, he must be cast as a victim in need of protection.

“I think it’s important to note, though, that through all of this, the Republicans are trying to sue the president — on a path to impeach the president – while we’re trying to create jobs and have stability,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) fabricated in an appearance on CNN over the weekend. Point A and Point B in this train of thought remain parsecs apart, though her interlocutor – Candy Crowley – chose to throw to break rather than to dig too deeply into Pelosi’s flawed thinking.

It’s NEVER too late to alert peop;e to the error of this impeachment strategy. Never say never..we can’t predict the future, and so we must push forward, educate others and fight for what is right.

“Your comment (and some others) stands in stark contrast to comments I have read from many here at FR.

There have been unbelievably numerous calls here to impeach.

I have always thought it a self-defeating notion.”

Don't get me wrong, I think Obama deserves to be impeached and I think it would be good for the country.

But impeachment is not going to happen. The MSM is talking about it continually to create a distraction and make Obama the victim.

It is better to honestly and accurately point out Obama’s many failures. It is better to get Democrats out of office. It is better to talk about the corruption in Washington and the destruction of our once great country.

>>>EXACTLY! This is not the time to push the impeachment issue.

Here is the bottom line: If Obama WANTS impeachment...you have to know its a trap and they know it will work out better for them.

The dems are much better at long term strategy than the GOP...they are much better at scheming. If the enemy WANTS something....then it can't be good for YOU!

A not so clever attempt to get the GOP to go after the bait of impeachment, because the libs know they’d be able to play it as racially motivated.

Obama should just go straight to jail for his unconstitutional behavior.

The GOP SHOULD NOT TAKE THE BAIT AT THIS TIME.

As the Bible says: “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

2014 is NOT YET the time.

Don’t get distracted. Win Congress, get the majority, and then yes, look at the ground for impeachment AFTER THAT.

If they could get the Pubbies to bring up Articles of Impeachment, they could campaign before the November election with both the Race Card AND the Victim Card — a double-header to rally their base.

So far, most of the Pubbies have stayed away from the I-word.

unless the Republicans control the senate in order to achieve a conviction, there is no point in bringing forth articles of impeachment.

That is just political reality.

AFTER republicans control the senate, that is a different issue.

Impeaching the POS right now would just be stupid. The havoc on the border is just infuriating the public. Good its about time they woke up and smelled the coffee. Maybe they will get to the polls and vote.

We should all donate to the Democrat Party. That way, no Democrats will donate and the party will go broke.

Not that I have any issues with impeaching his sorry behind....but is not the whole effort a fool’s errand without 67 votes in the US Senate willing to convict?

Clinton served out the last 2 years of his term, after his acquital by the Senate in Feb. 1999, as if the whole thing never happened. The same could happen with Obama.

Also, Clinton and the Dems got shellacked in the 2000 election yr. Landslides are more effective than impeachment in this case though.

The pure egotism of the left is astounding, they have no shame in the slightest.
This attitude in front of a court would not be advised.

I don't think this will turn out like the Democrats think it will because
the Americans who are watching this will not stand for their
assuming they're untouchable in defiance of our Laws.

They are acting like Bullies, not even teenage bullies, but rather children
who get away with everything and expect it.

Their hubris is disgusting.

It's called Poker, a Bluff. The RATs are playing a bluff and you can see their Tells.
Their tell is that they've never been this brazen, they're scared to death.

RE: ....but is not the whole effort a fool’s errand without 67 votes in the US Senate willing to convict?

Yes it is. That’s why I always ask the impeachment crowd, what exactly is your purpose?

If it is to remove Obama from office then it ain’t gonna happen even if (God permit) the GOP wins 10 seats this November.

I think the best you can do with an impeachment is to SEND A MESSAGE to America informing them why Obama deserves to be impeached, THAT’s ALL THERE IS TO THIS EXERCISE.

I'm seeing and reading both sides, and your side on this issue is wrong.
Breaking the law, especially against the US Constitution must be punished.
Those who think that this is a winning issue for the Dems are not paying
attention to the public, they are pissed off and to busy working to support their
family to do anything about it. Our elected leaders Must take action. Period.

It's called Balls. Inaction is lacking the Balls to stand up for what is true and righteous
to our nation. The American public just needs to be informed by the bully pulpit
exactly which laws have been broken. The bully pulpit is Not being used, at all!

Clinton did not run in 2000 and Gore won the popular vote and GOP lost 5 senate seats and some House as well

No landslides....in fact impeachment hurt the GOP politically making them appear bitter and trivial but ineffective

Clinton’s impeachment for lying under oath served no purpose other than to record it

History can judge

Impeachment is for egregious offenses unless the GOP is in office

Its really a media vehicle which cripples us...
