President Obama’s competence problem is worse than it looks (Cillizza at WaPo turns on O)
WaPo ^ | Chris Cillizza

You can understand President Obama's current political problems -- and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall's midterm election -- in a single word. And that word is "competence".

Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to "Heck of a job, Brownie" and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration. That the basic functioning of government would never be in question.

Almost six years on from that election, however, Obama is faltering badly on the competence question and, in so doing, badly imperiling not only his ability to enact any sort of second term agenda but also Democrats' chances this fall. A series of events -- from the VA scandal to the ongoing border crisis to the situation in Ukraine to the NSA spying program -- have badly undermined the idea that Obama can effectively manage the government.

Hire a rookie to do the job - what could possibly go wrong?

Hire an arrogant, air-headed rookie with a racist chip on his shoulder and a head full of simplistic socialist ideas and the odds get worse.

Never underestimate the GOP's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, however, because they don't offer an alternative.

This is a guy who had a eight-line resume. For the matter of US Senator? He basically walked in...did about twelve months of nothing (there’s no single legislation that you can attach to his name for the first year)....then shifted into campaign mode for year two as a Senator and barely appeared once a month...strictly for big-name voting situations in the Senate.

What great feats did he do as a state senator in Illinois? Well...nothing.

What big-name accomplishments did he have as a community organizer? To this date....no US media organization can indicate anything worthy of an award during this period.

So I go back to the Chauncey-character of the movie Being There...an empty suit guy with slogans that seem to work only when you don’t ask in depth questions. The nation was talked into bringing Chauncey onto the scene, and this is the reward for those voters.

Libs see their party taking a shellacking in 99 days.

Libs never accept personal responsibility for anything.

Hence Libs are going to blame Obama for the butt-whoopin’.

Given his stated purpose of “transforming” America, Clown Prince nobama is being very effective in implementation. Everything this criminal degenerate does is intentional. Most appear to have a difficult time accepting that this affirmative-action hire is a treasonous destroyer.

My Gawd if that doesn't reek of unicorns and fairy tales today! Of course most of us knew back in 2008 that it was a liberal fantasy.

You are correct. He is very competent in his desire to take this great nation down and at the same time make us a socialist quasi Marxist nation.

He’s not as incompetent as he is malicious.

This was predicted by someone, can’t remember who. might be Rush. Since Obama is tanking in approval, the idea is to make it all appear to be incompetence instead of stinkin’ ideology in order to preserve progressivism AKA communism.

I wish people would quit the incompetence thing. The damage to home and abroad was a planned strategy and nobody can deny that they are successful in their plans.

WaPo is attempting to divert attention from deliberate sabotage to incompetence IMO. It’s called let’s take the focus off of the Democrat’s deliberate attempt to murder the Constitution (They say it’s a living document) of the U.S.A., and make it look like it’s all an incompetent Obama’s fault...Yeah that’s the ticket.

They know the party is in trouble, and it’s time to focus the blame. Shucks we were suckered JUST LIKE YOU.

Nothing? Come on, give the guy his due. He was extremely accomplished at getting divorce proceedings released - no small feat!

2008 Obama promised Americans that he would restore competence to government, that he would always put the most qualified candidates in every job in his Administration.

OBAMA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL SECURITY APPOINTMENT:

Tommy Vietor, Obamba's (ahem) van driver, got national
security clearance; the dude attended WH Situation Room
meetings; Dude Tommy is now working for Hillary, and masterminded her disastrous book tour.

FEEL SAFER YET, AMERICA?

=============================================

Not to forget the imbeciles at Hillary's all-girl State Dept openly mocked by reporters for their dumbness, unable to cite even one
foreign policy success.
