Warner presses Gillespie on climate change
The Hill ^ | July 26, 2014 | By Laura Barron-Lopez

Republican Senate candidate Ed Gillespie said he thinks there is enough evidence to support climate change after being pressed on the issue during a debate with incumbent Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.).

"I believe there is ample scientific evidence that contributes to climate change but I'm not entirely dismissive of those who have a different point of view," Gillespie said.

Gillespie added, "Norfolk is dealing with rising sea levels but people can debate what contributes to that or not."

Still, Gillespie said he thinks the administration's new carbon pollution rules "go to far."

There’s no nuance with the liberals.

Man undoubtedly contributes to pollution of the environment. But the question is , how much. How much of changes is due to man, and how much is due to natural cycles? And if the bulk of it is due to natural cycles, we have no control over such cycles anyway.

How much of global warming do we really understand? There have been numerous ice ages in earth’s history. Haven’t we been in a period of global warming ever since then?

Chicago was buried under a mile of ice during the last ice age. The ice didn’t melt because Cro-Magnon Man had coal fired power plants.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I watched the debate. Gillespie is a RINO and he equivocates like the political consultant he was. He totally whiffed on the immigration issue failing to go after Warner on the Gang of 8 bill. He should have adopted the Dave Brat approach.

I briefed Gillespie for an hour on immigration and he ignored it. He is a loser.

Meh. Warner would win this race by double digits if he ran the race naked.

Here is the proper reply to a climate change question:

The so called scientists refuse to submit their data for peer review. Not one of these so called scientists will debate their theories publically.

There is no such thing as consensus in science. They are still debating Einstein's E=MC2. Until the alarmists are willing to debate in public and share their data and computer models I will continue to deny their lies.

You reporters are stupid and gullible. The public is not.

"I believe there is ample evidence that contributes to climate change but I'm not entirely dismissive of those who have a different point of view", Gillespie (GOP-e) said.

Well done, Ed!

A beautifully-turned phrase, covering both sides of the issue in a minimum of red-blooded words.

(....at first I thought it was that old fair-and-balanced bloviator himself, mouthing those brillant weasel-words!)

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Answer: They don't. They allow all control to be initiated by executive fiat.

Typical ex-Democrat GOPe. Concede the narrative and basis of the argument to the liberal.

I don’t think it was a good move by Ed to say those things the way he did. Maybe he’s trying to get liberal votes out of nova. If he does Warner is toast.

Of course because of the corruption at the top of both parties Virginia has
a guy from Conn,Warner running against a guy from NJ, Gillespie. Pretty bad considering neither is a true conservative

I did not read the article, but Ed is correct on CLIMATE CHANGE, if he considers it different from AGW.

Remember, sea level rise is real, but it is the COMBINATION of an absolute rise in ocean height, and the sinking of the land. And most of it is sinking land.

But Virginia has a real problem in Norfolk and Hampton Roads, as the land has sunk so much that sea level has risen 7-14 inches in many places, and a lot of development was done within a few feet of the high tide lines.

So something does need to be done; it simply has nothing to do with climate change (which IS a real thing, after all, since climate has changed throughout recorded history, including a major ice age).

Gillespie cleaned Warner’s clock in this debate, and this is the left’s best shot at countering that.

why did a candidate hire a briefer and not put them on a non-disclosure agreement? That seems pretty stupid.
