Southern Baptist Convention: Executive Order Violates Freedom of Conscience
National Organization for Marriage ^ | July 25, 2014

Posted on 07/26/2014 11:17:11 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Russell Moore, president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, has joined other faith leaders in raising concerns over the lack of religious liberty protections in President Obama's new executive order.

Moore said:

“While we don’t know the full implications of this executive order, I am disappointed that this administration persistently violates the freedom of conscience for religious organizations that provide necessary relief for the poor and endangered. The same religious convictions that inspire their social action are the convictions now considered outside the new mainstream of sexual revolutionary fundamentalism. The ones hurt will be the most vulnerable in our society.”

This new executive order could result in Christians and those who belief in marriage as the union of a man and a woman facing reprisal and even punishment simply for expressing their views in the workplace. -

Nice to see a religious body taking a stand against the Oval Office occupant.

Can not “We the People” decide which laws, regulations and dictatorial executive orders we will abide by just as our elected President and nonelected Attorney General do? Isn’t that fair?

The TEA Party should start a “Laws We Will Rescind” campaign.

Don't blame the "bastard" Obama from simply applying a BINDING and LEGAL agreement (IRS 501-C3) with Corporations (albeit "religious") from compling with Obama demands that they act a certain way to please him.

Obama's is just treating IRS-501-C3 tax-exempt churches the SAME way the Obama treats Boeing, Lockheed, Microsoft and Xerox (other Federal Contractors).

It's a SIMPLE path to FRREDOM fro America's Christian Churches ... FREEDFOM from the "bastard" Obama's obscene and sacreligious behavior.

Churches MUST Jettison their IRS-501-C3 FEDERAL CONTRACTS.

Don't blame me ... I'm just the messenger.

Questions ?

Muster up the courage to do the free IRS download of "Pamplet P1828" which specifies the legal details of your tax-exempt church's sertitude to it's U.S. Government Masters.

“Freedom of conscience”? Big deal. What about just plain freedom. Let me know when somebody comes out for that.

The Constitution spells out exact freedoms...I think that is a wise thing to do.

I think it is clear that the bill of rights is not a limit on citizens but the government. The Constitution absolutely does not limit the people but the government. Your notion could not be more mistaken or more dangerous. Total ignorance.

Oh, I think you are right regarding the scope of the Constitution. Amendment 9 is ample evidence of that. Still, particular freedoms ARE spelled out in other parts of the document, that is all I was saying.
