The Odds of a GOP Wave Are Increasing
National Journal ^ | July 22, 2014 | Josh Kraushaar

When writing about politics, it's all too frequent to use terminology that often obscures more than elucidates. That's especially true when it comes to the word "wave"—shorthand for a landslide victory for the winning party. I've argued before that the likelihood of 2014 being a wave election has been rising, given the president's consistently low approval ratings and the fact that Republicans are running evenly on the generic ballot (which usually translates into a clear GOP edge) and that the right-track/wrong-track numbers are near historic lows. All these big-picture signs are ominous for the party in power.

It does look that way, that there is undercurrent slowly building. We may see a tidal wave of voter anger sweeping aside one DemocRAT after another. Election night could be so much fun. Stock up on Cristal champagne if you can afford to.

“Republican” and GOP don’t do anything for me these days since they no longer, if they ever did, mean “conservative”

The GOPers are doing everything they can to piss off the conservative base and ensure this doesn’t happen. I believe we are going to lose enough “safe” seats in the senate to allow the Dems to maintain control.

It will be a lot of fun to see the Dems lose a giant percentage of their stranglehold.

I hope they are the minority party for decades to pay for the damage that they have done over the last 40 years.

It will be richly deserved if they all lose like McGovern!

The rats basically shot themselves in the foot with a primary fight between two nobodies. With little time to build recognition for the general I doubt most of the state could name the Dem candidate much less vote for him. Sadly Cornyn can rely on the crony captialist Republican machine here in Texas to get reelected.

Cornyn is likely to win in November, unfortunately.

He'll have to do it without my vote.

He's already on my list for 6 years from now, though. It took forever to get rid of Dewhurst, but we have, finally.

dream.

There is nobody -—NOBODY -— on planet Earth who wants a Republican majority in th Senate more than me.

But it ain’t gonna happen ...,,,,,,,,, unless every single conservative gets out there and outworks the hell out of the Democrat machine..

There is no “slowly building undercurrent” There is only committment and hard work.

Well, maybe if the GOP weren’t at war against conservatives it would help?

To the GOP-e, that IS victory. Those people are in their twilight years. Drifting from one K-street function to another DC cocktail party. Since 2008, no one but DC has prospered more. They are not even sellouts, they are grifters and America is too damn blind to see. There has not existed a "two party" system for a long time, only a "who gets to fleece the most" system. The politicians of today would have had their throats slit post haste back when this country was being erected.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they’ve tried everything else.

Winston Churchill

Just sub: `Conservatives’ for `you’, `cannot’ for `can’ and `GOP’ for `Americans’.
If the McConellurtles & Boehnerites win, it will be w/o the help of conservatives.
