The FAA announced today that they have not lifted their ban against travel to or from Tel Aviv's airport and will prohibit travel to the country for an additional 24 hours.

"The agency is working closely with the Government of Israel to review the significant new information they have provided and determine whether potential risks to U.S. civil aviation are mitigated so the agency can resolve concerns as quickly as possible," the FAA said in a statement.

Worried about weapons we gave to Libyans or “moderate” muslims in Syria?

>> Except for John Effin Kerry.

I vote to keep Kerry flying! Fly, John! Fly! Every day! To trouble spots all over the world!

(Good things — from our point of view — sometimes happen to airplanes, you know...)

Just another business to kill in the U.S. Travel agents are going crazy, not knowing what tomorrow will bring.

Keep in mind ... and ccording to the news reports ... four major USA airlines suspended their flights - indefinitely - BEFORE the FAA even acted.

It sounds like, to me, an “airline thing” and safety of their passengers, not to say anything about potential lawsuits.

And in fact, today, I read where one of the major airlines says that they evaluate their flights on their own, apart from the FAA, and they have decided on their on their own to not fly there.

I thought the FAA didn’t “ban” flights; it only issued safety warnings.

It was the government (executive, congress) which did that (such as banning flights to Cuba).

When did the FAA start “banning” air traffic to foreign countries?

Not to mention the tourism industry in Israel. I was there just last month. The hotels and restaurants were packed. Tourists were everywhere. Now, however?

The airlines themselves were canceling the flights before the FAA even did a single thing. The airlines were “on top of it” before the FAA even figured it out!

No way! You mean there wasn’t something particularly and terribly dangerous about the last 24 hours?! Wow! Buncha anti-semites

Rockets from Hamas — falling all over Israel - doesn’t really help tourism. That’s not part of the package that the tourists pay for ... LOL ...

You’ll have to be calling the major airlines “anti-Semites” then, because they were canceling before the FAA did a thing.

I never thought I'd say the words "I admire Michael Bloomberg" but his decision to fly El Al into Israel and publicize it was pretty cool.

Or weapons that Russia gave the rebels!

We’re back to the Cold War days, where Reagan helped the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, who then formed a group of terrorists to bomb us, on our own land, on 9/11/2001,

From what I understand tourists already in Israel haven't seen too much disruption. An occasional trip to the shelter but that's it. But I take your point. All the more reason for Israel to tell Kerry to pound sand and finish off Hamas once and for all.

Lots of weapons we hand out are Russian made or at least Russian sourced. We often give aid in return for the aid receiver to pass weapons on to a 3rd party.

More crap. Working for Hamas?

Only Delta has said they are indefinite now. US Airways actually said that when the FAA lifts their NOTAM they will resume. British Airways never stopped, and neither did El Al, because let me see, YOU think they are willing to risk it. Sheesh.

This is but another example of the fact that Obama hates & despises Netanyahu.

FAA wants to please the boss. Bottom line.

Israel will severely degrade the capability of Hamas, but the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on record as saying that the elimination of Hamas is not their goal. Also the IDF is quoted as saying that they would rather have Hamas there controlling the other smaller Islamic groups.

This is coming from Israel’s government and the IDF.
