THE bodies of the MH17 victims has arrived by train in Kharkiv – the first step in their long journey home.

But Mark Rutte, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, has warned that the identification of some of the bodies could take months....

Earlier, Mr Abbott described the aftermath of the MH17 air disaster as “evidence tampering on an industrial scale”.

The PM said the last few days have been a difficult and trying time for our country and that the MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine had been “trampled from the beginning”.

“After the crime, comes the cover-up,” Mr Abbott said. “What we have seen is evidence tampering on an industrial scale — and that has to stop.”

The Prime Minister told reporters in Canberra the objectives now are to retrieve the bodies of the victims, to secure the crash site, to conduct the investigation and to bring justice....

Uh... Mr. Prime Minister we know a BUK shot it down... the black boxes should tell us some of the story. To dig in to this crash is just a waste of energy.

Would the Ukrainians be less (pick a pejorative term here) for collecting the bodies and putting them under refrigeration, or letting them rot in the fields?

All parties should have backed away and let the Malaysians et al take the lead as international law requires, but what we find out is that the boss of the Donetskian separatists wanted the West to recognize him as “Prime Minister of Donetsk” before he would turn over the orange boxes and let the bodies of the dead leave.

He has earned the title: Prime Monster of Donetsk

Yessir, the Malaysians did a bang up job on their last investigation. They should really nail this one.

Both incidents were uncharted territory for the Malaysians but you are right.

They will face an uphill battle with the the terrorists of Donetsk just getting access to the crime scene much less removing any evidence.

They were compelled to recognize Borodai as “Prime Minister” to get their orange boxes — this is just the beginning of the Russian extortions that will be required of them.

What would you do if a passenger plane crashed in your town?

Let the legal authorities take charge and in this case the legal authorities according to governing law were the Kiev Ukrainians who sent in emergency workers to bag the dead while the pretend “Prime Minister” of Donetsk sent in looters to cover up the crime.

What would you do???

Has anyone explained why the rebels decided to shoot down a passenger jet? If they didn’t know, then why does the US Gov insist that the rebels had to have Russian help with the launch? Are we supposed to believe they are all that stupid?

Render aid.

Treat any survivors.

Put out any fires.

If no survivors, photograph/document everything in situ.

Remove debris where necessary to provide access.

Recover/preserve remains.

I expect somewhere fairly early in this process local authorities would show up, and I would work/coördinate with/defer to them as much as possible. I expect in an active combat zone this would be problematic.

Be available to provide photos, sketches and any other data I can to the accident investigators when they finally show up.

Either way, we'd both do the best we can. We're Americans. We do that.

Just suggesting - that if we really had an actual American president - he could have immediately contacted the Ukrainian government , the rebels, and the Soviets, I mean Russians, and said: “ under international law, we have responsibility to investigate the destruction of a US-made aircraft. Therefore, US expeditionary forces will be arriving to secure the crash site for our international investigating agencies. These forces will secure the perimeter only and take no part in the ongoing civil war. Do not engage them. They will be full armed and will respond with commensurate combat power to ensure safety of the investigation team and US forces.”

If we had an actual president.

They thought it was a troop transport.

Local air traffic control had them drop down into the exclusion altitude to avoid a traffic conflict.

Very few air tragedies have a simple single failure point as the cause.

It would be but this area is not a combat zone.

It is rebel held territory. They were in full control of the site and the surrounding countryside and still are.

Obama has no moral authority to lead on the issue of Russian involvement in the shooting down of this plane.

First, on the transfer of arms to irresponsible, poorly trained and undisciplined separatists, Obama arranged for the transfer of arms to the Al Qaeda linked Libyan militias and is in the process of selling arms to Qatar, which will inevitably end up in the hands of Hamas.

On the destruction of evidence, there is the IRS. Obama and Putin have the same MO.
