The Balfour Declaration: the Legal Right to a Jewish State

The government of Great Britain issued the Balfour Declaration 95 years ago. The document in effect served as the birth certificate for a Jewish national home. British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour's declaration was in the form of a letter to a leader of the British Jewish community. It stated:

His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

The British Army had just captured Be’er Sheva after months of trying to break through the Ottoman army’s Gaza-Be’er Sheva defense line. The British goal was to push north and capture Jerusalem by Christmas.

Israel wouldn’t like that, as it would cause the Arabs to outnumber the Jews several times over.

In fact, that’s why the fledgling “government” of “Israel” (wasn’t Israel at the time) fought so very hard for the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan ... into an ARAB part and a JEWISH part, so that they would be the MAJORITY in their part. They WILDLY CELEBRATED they got the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan approved. The ARABS “walked out” of the United Nations when it happened!

You are very correct. It should also be noted that the Balfour Declaration did not establish a Jewish state, but a Jewish home. That was intentional because, as you mentioned, Jews were out numbered by Arabs. At that time, Jews wanted a British protectorate until more Jews could settle so they would be in the majority. Once a majority was established, then a state could be formed.

Do you know that Israel and Jordan have a peace treaty? And ... do you actually think anything like that would remotely happen? ... LOL ...

Did you know that Israel actually wants to help Jordan with their security, in keeping ISIS (now called IS) out of there?

Did you know that Israel helped turn back the Syrian tanks who were going into Jordan to help the PLO overthrow the King of Jordan?

And, did you know that Israel is working with the faction of Arabs (and Egyptians) who are against Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Jordan is part of that faction, while Turkey, Qatar and Iran are on the other side trying to help Hamas in Gaza.

I think you better “get in line” with Israel’s policies and agreements that they have with Egypt and Jordan.

Well, actually, I believe there will be WWIII, caused by Israel being attacked (limited nuclear); Israel fighting back with same (not on Palestine); all nations will then gather to take out Israel once and for all; big mistake .. Messiah of Israel will show up in the Valley of Miggido and the world will be able to see that war on TV .. then we’ll have the final harvest .. AND THEN, Jesus will come for the church.

All this activity will not be Armageddon. That is another event altogether .. an event which will set up the reign of Jesus on the earth.

Don’t have to agree with me .. just letting you know so you’ll be ready when it comes.

For a starter you may want to read some of the books written by Zecharia Sitchen titled the Earth Chronicles, such as Genesis Revisited and the 12th Planet. Either one is close on target, perhaps not perfect but very close. As far as religions in general are concerned we have come a long, long way from the dark ages, but have much further to go. Judaism is or was how and where it all started.

Then one day Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall and broke in to many pieces and mankind been struggling ever since to put him back together and so far have not succeeded and probably never will at least not until mankind will recognize the real truth about our origin. Until then, strife and never ending wars will be with us, you can bank on this one.

I like Star Wars, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Battlestar Galactica and all those other fanciful and imaginative stories and movies just like many others do, but I don’t confuse them with the Word of God, the inerrant and infallible 66 books, written over hundreds of years, by 40 writers that God chose to pen what he has to say to mankind.

And what is "acceptance," and what is "rejection" of Jesus - hmmm?

Something YOU would recognize in another? That most intimate of all possible relationships, that trust and love literally from the Divine, and you would judge its merits? You would say - acceptable in this one, unacceptable in that one? Adequate here, inadequate there?

Who has listened to your lip-licking descriptions of hell and turned away from Jesus in horror, or despair? Who, oh judger of souls? Because Jesus knew about people like you. He said, "if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread, oh judger of souls.

The Bible can solve your problem of not being aware of “what” it is to be saved. There are many who are unaware ...

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,

2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.

7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.

And Paul makes it even more simple for you. It’s not difficult!

To be SAVED is “... that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:9-10

That is all it takes!

The Jewish right/duty to live in 'Eretz Yisra'el comes from Heaven, not from any earthly authority.

BTW, Jabotinsky always based the Jewish claim to Israel on the San Remo Conference, not the Balfour Declaration.

I don't know why, but you seem fanatically dedicated to de-Judaizing the Jewish claim to Israel and turning it into just another country, Star.

Not at all, I fully support Israel as the homeland for the Jews ... and that’s why I also support keeping Palestinians OUT OF ISRAEL proper, so that the demographic doesn’t change in favor of the Arabs. Forming that Palestinian State will keep the Palestinians out of Israel permanently and preserve the demographic for Israel and as “the homeland for the Jews.”

What is presented in this article is the basis that Israel itself has used for its legal case ... and it’s a good case and I support this for modern Israel.

As for how it will be when Jesus, the Messiah of Israel returns to earth and sets up his rule over the nations of earth from his capital city of Jerusalem — well ... I’m sure “his word” will settle the issue, too ... :-) ...
