Editorial: Perry's plan to add troops to border won't ease this crisis
Dallas Morning News ^ | July 21, 2014 | Editorial

Gov. Rick Perry’s plan to activate 1,000 Texas National Guard troops for duty near the border with Mexico will do little to ease the crisis caused by the arrival of 57,000 unaccompanied minors from Central America.

More significant to addressing the problem is enlisting the governments of Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala to better enforce their own borders and discourage adults and children from attempting the dangerous trip northward.

No show of force can stop them from crossing. Once they’re here, U.S. law requires that they enter a legal process intended to ensure they’re protected from predators in their home countries.

The plan Perry offers is certainly a show — not of force but of political theater. What this situation requires are scores more immigration-court judges and facilities to house and feed the young migrants, not soldiers near the border.

You cannot cure the patient until you stop the bleeding. The Texas border is suffering 100% anarchy.

Given Perry's long history of being pro-ILLEGAL alien I believe that to be true. But if it embarrasses Hussein even a smidgen, it will be worth it.

Who said that we have to “ease” a “crisis”?? Perry’s plan likely will help to “stop” “illegal immigrants” from “crossing the border.” Isn’t that the goal? Apparently not to the libs at the Dallas Morning News.

And the troops won’t stop the bleeding. Perry himself has said that anyone apprehended will be turned over to INS.

Doormen.

Acts as a deterrent, (vs handing out soccer balls teddy bears). Will give more coverage to the issue and public awareness

Just write those illegals a strongly-worded editorial. That will make them stop.

The article says, “Once they’re here, U.S. law requires that they enter a legal process intended to ensure they’re protected from predators in their home countries.”

More liberal hypocrisy. From day one this President has selectively enforced and interpreted the laws of this nation. He can certainly choose to ignore this one.

Put the military on the border and repel all invaders. Any nation that permits millions of uninvited foreigners to cross the border and homestead is a nation committing suicide.

I agree. More eyes on the border and at least these are Texans. I would like to think that we’ll get more press coverage. Let’s see what Obama and Holder do next. Don’t expect help from New Mexico’s governor but it’s time for Brewer in Arizona to step up to the plate and follow Perry’s move.

Racial pandering by the news media is a major cause of our Country’s problems

It has manifested itself in so many ways, not just immigration

But Zero and his Holder have made it abundantly clear that they have no interest in doing their jobs, and governors are prohibited from negotiating with foreign countries. So.... Perry should just shut up, and play golf?

Other states that are getting overwhelmed with illegals being transported into them should also send their national guards down to help out Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
