Jeb Bush, Rubio Lay Low on Border Crisis
CNN ^ | 7/18/14 | Leigh Ann Caldwell

Three Republicans with lofty aspirations nearly had their political careers derailed over risky positions on immigration.

But the crisis on the southern border involving an influx of nearly 60,000 migrant children this year from Central America may help Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Rick Perry repair a broken trust on immigration with conservatives.

All three are positioning themselves in a way that could help them make peace.

Perry, as governor of Texas, is out in front publicly since his state is directly affected, while Rubio, a Florida senator, and Bush, a former Florida governor, have been quiet

If I were Bush and Rubio, I'd keep quiet too. The policies they support are largely to blame for the current flood of illegals coming into the US. But at least we know where Bush and Rubio stand: firmly on the side of amnesty. Meanwhile, we have Perry trying to talk tough and make it look as though he's been in favor of border security all along, when in fact his tenure has been defined by doing everything in his power to enable illegals.

All three have a history of being pro-ILLEGAL alien RINOS. No thanks!

An astute observation. Look for the pro-Perry crowd try to marginalize its importance just as they have done with my tag line.

“Ultimately, we must overhaul this nation’s broken immigration system to prevent situations like this in the future,” his spokeswoman, Kristy Campbell, said.

“Broken immigration system?” It’s not broken it’s ignored!

“Overhauling” the law will not “prevent situations like this in the future” ENFORCING LAW WILL.

I’m sick to death of these lying Republican scum. They’re no better than Democrats. In fact they’re worse, they pretend to be what they are not.

Perry has been jacking his jaw for weeks. It’s obvious that state and federal agencies can not control the border, Perry has the power to use the State Guard yet he does not.

There’s nothing this troika of open borders, backstabbing weasels can do to “repair the damage.” They all need to go away.

Giving handouts in the form of taxpayer subsidized financial aid to ILLEGAL aliens cannot by any stretch of the imagination be considered fighting ILLEGAL immigration. Perry is part of the problem.

The whole notion of "immigration reform" is a scam, the words are designed to deceive by implying that there's something wrong with existing immigration laws and that these laws need changing, as opposed to their lax to non-existent enforcement.

Imagine a scenario where local police refuse to investigate car thefts, and elected officials inform the public that laws against theft need to be rescinded in response to an epidemic of car thefts. That's exactly what we have here.

I’m sick to death of these lying Republican scum. They’re no better than Democrats. In fact they’re worse, they pretend to be what they are not.

That's why if the election comes down to Jeb vs. Hillary in 2016, I'm staying home or casting a protest write-in or third party vote if there's someone decent to write-in. What difference is it to me whether I get liberalism implemented by "R" or by "D"?

They all need to go away.

I agree. Unfortunately, they are all probably going to try and be the next Republican nominee, which is why we need to do all we can to prevent them from getting there.

Draft Ted!

“Grand theft auto” reform. Great analogy. I’ll be using it on my rabid Obot BiL.

Rubio and Jeb ruined their chance to be president by supporting amnesty because conservatives won’t vote for them. I don’t know about Perry.

If Perry would send our Guard to the border, people from all over the country would contribute to pay their salaries and keep them there. The people of TX are all for it and Perry knows it.

This inertia may yet defeat Abbott. If he makes it to victory, I would not expect the customary wide margins by which he won for attorney general. Of course, I am voting for Abbott no matter what but not for Cornyn.
