MONTPELIER — The Shumlin administration is entertaining an initial inquiry from the federal government about hosting some of the migrant children from Central America who have been arriving at the country’s southern border by the thousands in recent months.

Susan Allen, a spokeswoman for Gov. Peter Shumlin, said the Obama administration has reached out to states about hosting the 60,000 or so children in U.S. custody. Many of the children have traveled as many as 1,000 miles to reach the United States from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

You got that right Susan----traveling atop freight trains w/ no running water or bathrooms.....as well as the hovels they lived in back in Central America.

Now, is Gov Shumlin gonna tell residents where the "children" will be "hosted"...so that resident can be alerted to the threat of communicable diseases?

Observing the "children" riding atop speeding freight trains for 1700 miles---one can only conjecture on their hygiene. How did they handle body wastes? No running water or flush toilets atop that train......just like home.

The e-coli threat is a given. Gov Shumlin should tell residents about possible infections from "migrants" in retail stores, in restaurants, in supermakets handling food and merchandise.

The deadly E-coli is passed through unclean hands from improper bathroom habits. E- coli has been found on the handles of supermarket carts.

What about contamination on school buses, school facilities, school supplies, books......and public buses that transported them....and so on. Mexican restaurants, fast food hamburger joints, supermarkets, retail stores, etc.....the e-coli contamination in pristine Vermont could get fierce.

Vermonters should have an opportunity to live the ‘convictions’ of the whackos they send to Congress (and a few other states fit this same profile). How can they even bear to live day-to-day in a state so lacking in diversity?
