GOV. MALLOY DENIES FEDS' REQUEST TO HOUSE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHILDREN IN CONNECTICUT

The administration of Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-WFP) has denied a request from federal officials to temporarily house up to 2,000 illegal immigrant children from Central America at a residence in his state for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

...

According to Keith Phaneuf at CT Mirror, federal officials initially contacted the administration of Malloy, who is seeking a second term as governor this year, on July 3 regarding the possibility of a short-term lease to house, feed, and provide medical care to 1,000 to 2,000 of the unaccompanied illegal children who entered the U.S. through Mexico.

The GSA reportedly asked for approximately 90,000 square feet at Southbury for up to 2,000 children who would reside for six months to a year.

Describing the need for housing for the illegal immigrant children as “urgent,” Michael Strobel, senior realty specialist for the GSA’s New England region, contacted Connecticut officials. The federal government would cover all living, medical, and maintenance expenses associated with moving the illegal immigrant children. The Mirror reports Patrick M. O’Brien, assistant director of Connecticut OPM’s Bureau of Assets Management, sent the following email to the federal official:

The vacant property that the state of Connecticut has is too small to accommodate your needs (which clearly must be at least several hundred thousand square feet of building space alone) and is typically in a state of disrepair to the point where a certificate of occupancy would be difficult to obtain. Indeed, many existing structures are beyond salvage and require environmental remediation and demolition…

The federal government would cover all living, medical, and maintenance expenses associated with moving the illegal immigrant children.

Of course, that magical fed money didn't come from CT taxpayers and the state of CT didn't send the feds a portion of its revenue. After the year of being supported by the feds, it'll be up to CT to continue the freebies for the next 75 years of those kids' lives and then their kids and their kids and their kids and th.....

Whatever happened to all them FEMA trailers anyway?

Put these people in tented compounds on the border and get busy processing them back home, instead of looking to “home” them throughout the United States!

They will find some nice peaceful suburb where hard-working people live, to force them to cough up more of their earnings to pay for the “new arrivals.”

Send ‘em all to San Francisco. The City needs more children, and there are very few Republicans to eat ‘em.

Putting those central american “youngsters” in Yale dorms for the summer would bring the diversity of the surrounding city into the university. How appropriate it would be, considering the priorities of Yale grads in government, finance, and business.

Does anybody recall the Mariel Boatlift of 1980, when Jimmy Carter accepted all the mental patients, political misfits, and flat-out criminals in Cuba who were loaded up and sent over here? While the great majority turned out to be relatively good citizens, a goodly number of these new “immigrants” who had been prisoners or inmates in Cuba, were back in some form of incarceration within only a few months of their arrival, partly because of the failure of the Carter administration to properly vet these new arrivals, just turning them loose without regard to the potential mischief.

I guess everyone remembers what happened to Clinton when Carter dumped the Cuban Mariel Boatlift refugees into Arkansas. Clinton lost his first reelection bid.

It's going to be tobacco picking season soon in Connecticut, let them stay as migrant workers till all the Weed is picked and then send them back home with them paying the tab with the money they earned. By the way when I was 14 and 15 years old I worked harvesting Tobacco for 65 cents an hour and I was happy to earn it. I suppose that would be considered "child abuse" nowadays!
