(Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday threw his weight behind a temporary fix for the depleted Highway Trust Fund during an event to tout his administration's work with the private sector to develop cars that communicate using wireless technology.
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives was poised on Tuesday to approve a $10 billion infusion for the fund, enough to keep money flowing to road, bridge and transit projects at least through the end of May 2015.

Obama weighed in on the issue shortly after taking a wild ride in a car simulator at a highway research center in McClean, Virginia, near Washington.
"The good news is there are bipartisan bills in both the House and the Senate that would help with a short-term fix. And I support that. At the very least, Congress should be keeping people on the job who are already there right now," Obama said.

Maybe the fund is empty because too much has been spent?
Talking cars? What would they say? “It’s Bush’s fault”? Or, maybe, “Everything would be fine if congress would just do whatever I want”?
Obama is an idiot. He hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about.
I always figured Obama wasn’t too bright, but I thought at least his handlers could see the irony of having him do a photo-op sitting in a “driverless car”.

They fractured GOP cant seem to demand ANYTHING for the $$$ Obama demands. One side wants a deal even when its crappy, the other rejects everything,

One side wants something passed to protect them from their voters, even if it means going to Dems for votes.
The other side tends to say 'no' to anything like this at all regardless of conditions, most in GOP only districts where saying 'no' is always safe.
So with a divided GOP house they always get nothing in return for all this $$$.
On other threads I said to give Obama his border $$$ but to fix the 2008 law that prevents immediate deportations, to give AZ the authorization to enforce their laws regarding illegals, and outlaw Obama’s amnesty program, all in the $$$ bill. Attach all those fixes.
And maybe some Republicans fear that Obama could use the GWB method of using 'signing statements' to ignore parts of the law he doesn't want to follow(man it looked great when Bush did it) .
