Not exactly similar. This one is distinctive, a classic Rutan’s ‘duck’ design.

Similar as in a low cost, light weight day attack aircraft sense.

Indeed, numerous jets and turboprs like that pops-up recently but I don’t think the entire concept like that is any viable. Survivability of these assets on the modern battlefield is questionable to say the least.

Everyone should buy lots of these. I am a certified parts supplier on the ground floor.

Chances are pretty good that even much more expensive CAS craft aren’t going to survive such missions, so might as well not watch hundreds of millions of dollars go poof on a mission.

Browse for pictures and videos of battle-damaged A-10s and Su-25s. The difference is they are getting back home and these new fancy things wouldn’t.

Yes, but they’re not going to be buying A-10s or Su-25s, nor would these things be used in the same role. The role for these is what the OV-10A and A-37 used to do, and it’s competing against similar aircraft.

One other thing, the Su-25 has a mission endurance time of 2 hours. The A-10, which we can’t make any more of, has a mission endurance time of three hours. This Scorpion can sit up there and loiter around for *five* hours.

Unlike other mentioned aircraft this Scorpion can intercept a rifle bullet and bite the dust on the first minute.
50 cal burst would make a guaranteed steak out of driver.

450 knots is a target.

A better choice would be to update the A-10, if you want a subsonic ground attack aircraft.

BTW, all of the above is true for F-35 too if it would try to fly a real CAS mission.
