Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman (R) pressed the Obama administration Monday to give him the names of nearly 200 children in his state who had been apprehended entering the country illegally.
"We want to know the names of those individuals, who their sponsor is, is their sponsor legal, what communities did you send them to," Heineman said. "Why are they conducting a secret operation essentially — transporting them all over the country, and now we learn to Nebraska, and the federal government won't tell us what is going on."
The governor said on "Fox and Friends" that he learned from Nebraska Sen. Mike Johanns (R) that the federal government had moved the children to the state amid the large influx being apprehended crossing over the Texas-Mexico border — mainly originating from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. "I'm concerned, it is 200 today, how many is it tomorrow?" Heineman asked.
Federal law requires the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to house children from noncontiguous countries until they can be released to a guardian in the United States to await deportation proceedings.
The policy has become controversial because there is no guarantee the children will show up for deportation proceedings once they are released into the United States.
The HHS told The Wall Street Journal it is required to keep the children's personal information confidential.
"They said they believe in transparency in government," Heineman said. "Why won't they be transparent on this situation? What are they hiding?"
The governor said the only way the children will eventually be returned to their county is if the government keeps track of them.
"Hey, I want to help the president here," he said. "He said he wants to return them expeditiously. The only way you are going to be able to do that is you got to be able to keep track of them. We need to know who they are."
The governor said he would work with his delegation and hopes an amendment will be inserted into the $3.7 billion in supplemental funding that President Obama requested to deal with the recent surge.
"I hope the Congress will insert language that says governors, mayors, other local officials deserve to know when they are sending these individuals to our states," he said.
They will probably end up in my town, which is known at “Little Mexico”. The school/community boasts that they ask no questions. Depending on how young they are, they may end up in my after-school program.
I love the kids we have and I think most of them love/like me too, because I love to give whatever I can. I have no idea who is legal and who isn’t. And I wish them all well. Every last one of them, and they know it.
But it is just wrong for these kids to be used as political pawns for Obama’s agenda of destroying this country. What needs to happen is for somebody to help these poor countries to prosper, and help them to fight off the corruption that makes it dangerous to live there. There are private groups working on those things - including an active group from our town. What’s being spent to take care of these unattended kids for even a small while could build a house for that child’s whole family. But that’s not the priority.
Instead of these families being helped to have a sustainable life where they’re at, they’re coming here for Obama’s expressed purpose (in his New Party history/membership) of making this country’s economy collapse (getting rid of our prosperity so we can have communism instead) and making the place lawless. That doesn’t help these kids and families, nor does it help us. The only ones who benefit are the communists and Islamists who will be at the top of the heap when the dust clears.
And that sickens me. It is the OPPOSITE of prosperity and hope. It is death.
I just wish someone would DO something! Are there ANY politicians who aren't useless?

These are the consequences of not getting together with the other governors and throwing the Marxist foreigner out when he was "elected" to start with.
Much as I'd LOVE TO SEE IT, just to see that smug smirk wiped off Ubama's mug, none of these states are going to do ANYTHING about these kids. Soon enough, they'll either be full Democrat voters, or dead from third-world diseases. And there will never be another conservative elected to Congress or the Presidency.
Clearly none who practice their craft within the Beltway are of any use. It's falling to Governors and Sheriffs.
And they haven't DONE anything either! Why wouldn't the govs call out the National Guard? Why not get public health people in there, with State Police guard, to enforce state health and safety laws? Why not charge people supervising unhealthy, overcrowded environments?
I'll answer my own questions. Because they AREN'T leaders. Instead of solving problems they're whining and complaining and too afraid about their political futures to take action in fast-moving nation-destroying events. It tells me that not one of them has the courage and inner core values to be a good leader.
