He certainly can't rely on himself to hear the voice of an authentic American black. Raised in Hawaii where everyone is a minority and whites are not the largest minority.* Also raised in Indonesia by a white mother and white grandparents. Father a Kenyan black, stepfather an Indonesian and not black at all. 0bama's life has nothing at all in common with the experience of 99.9% of American blacks. Schooled in a Madrassa in Jakarta and an elite private school in Hawaii.
