Cruz Votes Against Castro, Cornyn Votes for Him
Breitbart ^ | 10 Jul 2014 | Bob Price

Posted on 07/12/2014 7:32:59 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

HOUSTON, Texas—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined 17 other Republicans in voting for the confirmation of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to be the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). U.S. Senator Ted Cruz joined 25 other Republicans in voting against the confirmation.

The official vote for confirmation was 71-26 with three abstentions. The Republican abstention came from Sen. David Vitter (R-LA).

Cornyn did not just vote yes for Castro--he helped guide the nomination through the Senate.  He made an introductory speech for Castro before the nomination hearing last month. “Many Texans are reassured by Mayor Castro’s example that the American dream is still very much alive,” Cornyn said according to a post in the Dallas Morning News.

President Barrack Obama apparently agreed with Sen. Cornyn. In a statement quoted in an article by Jon Prior on Politico.com, President Obama said, “Julián has lived the American dream in his own life, and I’m confident he will help Americans across our country seize their own piece of that dream for themselves and their children.”

Sen. Cruz, on the other hand, held his cards much closer to the vest in regards to the Castro nomination. Cruz told Breitbart Texas, "I respect Mayor Castro but share the concerns my colleagues voiced in his nomination hearing. Specifically, questions regarding the use of eminent domain by local municipalities, FHA loans, and the federal enforcement of local zoning and housing laws were not sufficiently answered. We need a HUD Secretary who will help wind down our government’s heavy hand in housing, not simply further the President's regulatory agenda. Despite our differences in policy, I am committed to working in good faith with the mayor in his new role and wish him all the best."

Senator Cruz went on to vote no after evaluating the merits of the nomination.

I want people to remember, that Julian La Raza Castro is an anti-white racist, and he signed, as mayor of San Antonio, a bill FORBIDDING Christians from serving in public office. Cornyn makes me want to throw up!

The GOP-E is bought and sold by the Chamber of Commerce.

They no longer represent you and me, but instead represent the big campaigns that are stuffing their campaign coffers.

Our government is supposed to by "Of the people, by the people, and for the people".

Apparently, the GOP-E believes it should be "Of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations."

At least Julian Castro is out of San Antonio. Perhaps his political career will go the way of that of Henry Cisneros.

Well chalk one up for Cruz.
I wish he would get out there and be more vocal about the illegal alien invasion- or is he as spineless as Perry?

Unbelievable.

The son of the Mexican Separatist terrorist Rosie Castro?

The woman who founded La Raza Unida with Corky Gonzalez, the SOB who wrote El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan?

“In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal “gringo” invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny”

That Rosie Castro’s kid?

Nothing but anti-American Terrorists.

And this SOB is the Secretary of HHS, voted in by 17 “republicans”?

He belongs in Mexico with his relatives. He has nothing to do with us. The men who voted this guy in are traitors to the United States, because they knowingly put an enemy of America in this position.

People said the same thing about Henry Cisneros, then he had some problems...

Julian Castro will have fun looking for ways to line his pockets while in DC.

Bill Clinton got out of Arkansas, and now he and his wife and kid (Or is it Web Hubbell’s kid?) are still festering like boils on the public butt.

Cisneros. I remember he declared AIR CONDITIONING in welfare housing was a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT and demanded tax payers pay for it.

Personally, I think that the Clintons had a hand in destroying Cisneros’ aspirations. They made sure that his infidelities took him down. Bill and Hillary want the White House again, so I think that Castro is being set-up - no loss when he falls hard. Now, if only the Grifters from Arkansas could also be brought down...

Look at those numbers again.

More GOP Senators voted with Ted Cruz than voted with the Republican leadership (and President Obama).

Recall the debt limit fight, when Cruz' "filibuster" forced McConnell and Cornyn to vote in favor of raising the limit -- and then most GOP Senators chose to follow Cruz?

Now, it's happened again.

Cruz is adroitly challenging the GOP-e leadership...and he is winning.

So definitely is Cornyn committed to the Chamber of Commerce, big business and his own power clique in Texas and to the DC Estabs that he will be turning Texas BLUE along with the best of them.

The USA is running on a permit by China now, gone global and our next prez be guaranteeing to meld us with South America with socialist Canada falling right in behind us.

For years we are destined to look like Mexico and be enlisted to clean out cartels, gangs, Al Quaida and their spin-offs in the Americas, so the totalitarians can live in peacefully gated communities setting up the Chelseas’, Obama daughters types to reign and rule.

There is no USA, but the Americas and no party but the uni party apparatus. The rest is keyboard, rhetoric, noise and bluster. We have sat when we should have stood for easily the last 50 years and more. We rise now to find no one is left that gives a damn.
