Blame weak gun laws for holiday violence, Chicago's top cop says
CNN ^ | July 7, 2014 | Michael Pearson

Chicago's police superintendent lashed out at what he called lax state and federal gun laws after a violent Fourth of July weekend that saw more than 60 people shot and nine killed in a city already known for frequent shootings.

"There has to come a tipping point where this changes," Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Monday of the violence. "The illogical nature of what's happening here -- that government can intercede and prevent this from happening is overwhelming. And I refuse to think otherwise in a great country like America that we can continue to allow this to happen -- not just on a state, but on a federal level."

McCarthy said the violence unraveled a string of successes by police in suppressing gun violence this year. The city saw 21 shooting incidents on Sunday alone, he said, although three of them may have been self-inflicted.

"These offenders need to be held fully accountable for violent behavior to prevent them from ending up back on the street too soon," he said, adding, "There's too many guns coming in and too little punishment going out."

It’s all a corollary of the Cloward-Piven strategy. Overwhelm the public with violence and then demand that the only solution is government intervention beginning with firearm confiscation.

That is the case and every POS “Topcop” has repeated the same solution for so many years, “We have to get guns off the streets”. Idiots.

Liberals put education over experience especially in higher level positions because they value indoctrination.

Thank you for the heads up about the the International Association of Chief’s of Police (IACP). I had also read a police officers comments some time ago pointing out that police chiefs are political appointees beholden to the politician that appointed them; whereas, sheriffs are elected and therefore they are accountable to the voters.

Cap’n Crunch wrote:
“Garry McCarthy, member of the IACP, (International Association of Chief’s of Police)a liberal, anti-gun organization. The IACP is committed to anti-gun legislation. It’s a Trojan Horse organization that I believe will take a lead in the militarization of police forces that some here say they see.

An example is the practice of giving college graduates preference over military veterans for jobs on the police dept. This did not used to be the case. In my opinion more college graduates are indoctrinated at liberal run universities, less so in the military.

There have been articles written about the IACP but I do not think most people are aware of exactly who they are and the danger they pose.”

My point precisely! I wish folks would spend as much time worrying about criminals & psychopaths as they do worrying about guns. I wish we spent half as much time talking about better monitoring and care of the mentally ill or violent offenders as we do talking about guns.

Your welcome. I was in a bit of a rush when I wrote about the IACP, here is an article that was published by the NRA back in 2007 with more detail about the IACP.

http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2007/follow-the-money.aspx

They are funded by big money gun-grabbers like Bloomberg, Obama once sat on one of their foundations, the Joyce Foundation. The IACP is in nearly every police dept. across the country.

No one hurt (except my wife got a hot shall casing in her bra as she emptied her Glock on target, which created a bit of cussing, but didn’t cause her to lose the target.)
Was she using the HoMeBoy NiTe SyTeS or just terribly unlucky?

Gun prosecutions under Obama down more than 45 percent

Despite his calls for greater gun control, including a new assault weapons ban that extends to handguns, President Obama’s administration has turned away from enforcing gun laws, cutting weapons prosecutions some 40 percent since a high of about 11,000 under former President Bush.

The top cop is lazy.

Rather than stop and frisk he does nothing.

People kill people.

We mustn’t blame all the solja’s doin’ the shootin’. Nor must Mayor Emmanuel take any blame. What Chicago needs is stronger gun laws. Makes perfect sense.

I didn’t think it was a fit place to live when I went there back in ‘72. I couldn’t wait to get back to Carolina.

When we get a Repub president, put that town under martial law, send in the Marines, and clean it out.
