The president will travel to Texas tomorrow to fundraise for Democrats. But, because of the humanitarian crisis and rising health care concerns, the timing of his trip is far from impeccable. For his part, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) has sent numerous entreaties to the president in recent weeks urging him to see for himself the perilous situation on the border. He wont. He did, however, invite Perry to greet him at the airport upon his arrival, an invitation the governor promptly rejected (via the WSJ):
I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, Mr. Perry wrote in a letter to the president Monday. I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue.

And again...it's all for the children....but killing them in the womb is still a good thing according to the Dems.
Wait till H1N1 starts to spread. Wait till TB starts to spread. Wait till smallpox starts to spread. And remember the older population is subject to a smallpox outbreak.
Hmmmm. Dallas is a big city.
Obama wants to knock him out of the box for any Presidential run. I wouldn’t hesitate a bit to vote for him. Cruz would make a great attorney general, since Pres and VP cannot be from the same state.
Hey, maybe Obama could bring Malia and Sasha with him to meet and greet those central american children. Give a few of them scholarships to Sidwell’s while he’s at it. Maybe some of them could go to the WH for a slumber party with the first daughters.
Above his head, I hope. :-)
Kinda looks like it to me. I don't remember him backing down like this before.
My congratulations to Gov. Perry.
The old faith leaders cr**.
If Perry wants to do something , call up the National Guard. Station them along the border.
If Zer0 or Holder object, ignore them. If a judge orders the Guard to stand down, ignore him.
What’s Zer0 going to do? Arrest the Guard?
Hopefully he will receive numerous shipments of quality merchandise from the ACME Co.
Everybody here can see that the “meeting with faith leaders” is a planned ambush. No way should Perry get involved with that.
You are absolutely right about that! Ambush!
Hopefully enough Americans will answer the call and fill his orders. ;-)
It’s way past time for Perry to call out the National guard. And not the neutered version created by statute, but the one enshrined in the Constitution that every state has the right to control.
Most Americans want an orderly inforcible even handed and immigration policy, but neither Obama nor Perry want to solve the situation, period. Because, if they did it would have happened by now. The real game is effectively placing blame for the situation on the other party....not actually fixing it. This is as clear as the night is dark.
The simple truth is, America’s work rules, regulations, minimum wage laws, and required benefit packages are simply too expensive for employers to hire legal Americans. From the employee standpoint, America’s social net is too generous to motivate them to work menial labor.
Employers like to pay the most desperate people on earth an exploitative wage. In addition, Poor Americans and 8th grade drop outs like to take social benefits rather than work hard. This is not a complicated situation.
In the final analysis, this situation serves to drive wages down. For the life of me, I don’t know why the political left doesn’t see it that way. Border control is really made to order for Union Supporters, women’s rights people, and middle class advocates. Instead the political left is content to play the race card on the whole issue...leaving blue collar Americans to eat dirt.
The political right (mostly TEA Party) finally sees this issue for what it is .... an invasion with our very culture at stake. But, the big-money people (establishment Republicans—including Perry) like to pay slave wages and basically have no interest in listening to regular folks.
It’s a big freakin mess. It’s a lot of things, but mostly it’s sad. The government represents us.....not the other way around, but apparently I’m wrong on that. Uhggg!
I don’t know how Rick can stand to be in the same room with the guy.
Every church should know better. The Bible doesn’t encourage anyone to help criminals break the law. They are doing the opposite of what they should and helping tyranny. Misplaced “compassion” can do a lot of harm.
AMEN!!
