Glad to see Spike get spiked for his absurdly posting an address for Zimmerman. To my knowledge, Spike has never been called to account for his reckless action in doing so. I don’t know if Spike ever admitted he made a mistake in the address, or admitted that he should not have tried to put up Zimmerman’s home address in the first place. Spike’s actions are indefensible in my opinion. I’m glad he will face some consequences.

I’m sure Obama will invite him to the Whitehouse soon.

Probably so. I can imagine a nice out of court settlement. Spike is a multi millionaire. He can afford to make a nice offer to make this lawsuit go away.

He’s so wealthy he was able to move out of the Brooklyn ghetto. The same ghetto which is actually improving as urban renewal takes place, and a better class of people are moving in. But Spike is sad to see the ghetto changing. Can’t have Bedford-Stuyvesant ever be anything but a crime ridden cesspool.

When an anti-gunner starts telling you how your gun couldn’t have been imagined by the Founders and therefore isn’t legal under 2A, here’s your First Amendment rebuttal: a guy somehow writes a message into a box, and dozens of people start harassing a different guy 2500 miles away without ever having to knock on his door.

Urban renewal? No, no, no, it's "gentrification" and it's the doing of evil white racists!

There was an earlier “settlement” of $10,000:

Lee had already reached out and apologized to the McClains before the suit and reached a $10,000 settlement agreement with the couple in March 2012.

But the McClains allege they’ve continued to receive hate mail, threatening email and an inflated media presence outside their home from people who didn’t get the update that Lee’s initial tweet pointed to the right address.

“I don’t know what my intention was,” Lee told Winfrey. “But angry is not a justification for stupidity.

“There’s nothing I can say that can defend what I did. It was stupid.”

True enough. Gentrification is evil to the liberals and black ghetto types.

I just can’t understand how Spike is happy with the ghetto remaining a crime infested low income pile of slum buildings, full of druggies and gangs doing God knows what.

RE: This appears to be old news...

In that link, Spike Lee's lawyers files a motion to dismiss the lawsuit claiming that $10,000 ought to be enough to compensate them for their trouble.

The couple said no and apparently the lawsuit continues.

I don’t see how they are going to get around the fact that they already settled their claim against Lee.

“We settled too cheap” usually won’t cut it.

Yeah but, that motion is dated November 12, 2013,
I can't find any up-to-date news on the status of the suit.

He knows damn good and well what his intention was, it would just be further stupidity to admit it right now.

I can understand, on the level of knowing what he means. This is the very picture of “would rather rule in Hell, than serve in Heaven”.

$10,000 is ludicrously low IF you consider the anxiety he caused.

It may also be too low simply for economic damages. Did they have to move? Hire private security? Change their phone number(s)? Install tip-top alarms, with ongoing monthly monitoring fees?

The bad news for the plaintiffs? Spike hasn’t had a hit in decades and simply may not have much money. I think he lives film to film now — and is only a director, not a writer anymore (because his written work bombs).

Awhile ago, when Clint Eastwood’s Iwo Jima movies was out, I remember Spike Lee criticizing its authenticity because it didn’t featture any black people in it and Clint Eastwood fired back with a “I did my due diligence” rebuttal and the Spikester, to my amazement, seemed to let the issue drop.
