Thank you, Jim, and California patriots!
I have been contacting Perry since May about the invasion by illegals. Other than sending the DPS down there (which is not nearly enough), he is doing squat.
I’ve been telling him he needs to send the Texas National Guard and maybe hire some out of work vets to help secure the border.

Not true. Just a couple of weeks ago he appropriated an additional 1.3 million per week toward border enforcement activities.
I’ve never been a huge Perry fan, but when Sen. Dan Patrick called for this additional funding, it didn’t take him but a few days to sign the paperwork to make it happen.
Gotta give’em that.
Calling out the National Guard would not be a Good Idea.
Because it really belongs to the federal government, and is just loaned to the states. By that I mean ever member is also a member of the federal Reserve, Army or Air Force. They can be called to federal duty, as individuals or units.
The Texas State Guard, OTOH, is a pure select militia. They are only under the order orders of the Governor. As others have pointed out, the Texas governor can also call up the reserve militia, which is pretty much everyone, men and women alike, who are at least 18 and not more than 60 years of age;
But those are only the persons “liable to serve”, us old guys can still volunteer, AFAIK.
The State Guard has the advantage of being organized, and disciplined, in the Constitutional meaning of the term.
Both the State Guard and the reserve militia will have to supply their own arms and ammunition, and in so doing they will probably be breaking federal law.. but then again, so is Obama.
