No to you, per se, but, for a forum/people that loves to bitch about the ‘perversion of language’ most sure love to use the same perverted words/phrases. Contribution, entitlement, promises, etc.

Gov’t doesn’t have dollar ONE, unless it takes it from someone else. Just because they have promised to steal your own $$ to ‘invest’ it for your retirement, or promised goodies to stay in the military (sorry all. I’m not knocking the military, they do a good job with the BS they have, but the boat is the same), or any other snake-oil, it remains...snake oil. And, you’re still wrong to expect any promises from gov’t to be honored; as they have none, and no authority to take from one to give to another.

Now, as to your point: they may have the ‘easy’ answer, but it’s 180; they had little to do with the mess and easiest to get out and make it right for themselves. The seniors, on the other hand, have had numerous votes to correct the same, but never have.

When the Gen XYZ+ finally have enough of getting their pockets picked so grand-mom/pop can hit the Bahamas again this month, it’s gonna be messy...to say the least

The 16th Amendment says otherwise. Of course, I wish that particular amendment didn't exist, but it does. Maybe our focus should be repeal of said amendment.

I hear you. I really do.

The young folks today find themselves stuck catering to what is undoubtedly the most self-centered generation in our country's history. The seniors have huge numbers on their side (which translates into a ton of votes on election day) and their slogan has always been, "Pay me until I tell you to stop."

That said, not all of them are as bad as that. Many of them feel badly about what what they are doing to younger folks (who had nothing to do with passing or supporting these laws), but many of them haven't prepared for retirement and now feel stuck. In other words, not all of them are happy about being on the dole.

If we can't eliminate these senior benefits immediately (and politically we cannot), we should at least make people qualify for them based on real need. Our young people's lives are being ruined by what's going on now. You're right to be concerned.
