GOP Senator Collins says she supports gay marriage

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Republican Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday announced her support for gay marriage for the first time after getting an endorsement from the nation's largest LGBT advocacy organization in her bid for re-election.

"A number of states, including my home state of Maine, have now legalized same-sex marriage, and I agree with that decision," the Maine Republican said in a statement issued after several news organizations made inquiries.

Collins joins three other GOP senators who have said they support gay marriage: Illinois' Mark Kirk, Alaska's Lisa Murkowski and Ohio's Rob Portman.

She had been criticized for keeping her view to herself until Wednesday. Campaign spokesman Lance Dutson says she's consistently said the decision rests at the state or local level. She has twice voted against proposed constitutional amendments to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

“I gave up sending her emails long ago. Nothing about her I can stand including her voice.”

Ever time I see her speaking it reminds me of a dog trying to eat peanut butter.

I’m only surprised because I thought she “came out” and supported it a long time ago. What took her so long? Waiting for the endorsement???

On the day that the GOP formally supports abortion or gay “marriage,” they will lose my vote forever. I won’t support a candidate or a party that embraces such evil.

O course she does! Very soon she will support man-boy, man-sheep, man-horse, man-dolphin, man-worm relationships!

Ohio’s Portman was publically against homo marriage, until his son “came out”; thereafter, old two-faced Portman was for it.

It would be awesome to see her get the boot. No difference between her and a dem other than helping decide who is in the leadership or not.

The Betty Rubble of the Senate. That is what I think of every time I have the misfortune of hearing her screechy voice.

Screechy voice? I don't who you listened to, but it sure can not have been her. She talks very slow, but her voice is definitely not screechy. Listen to her, here she is talking about Alzheimer's disease

Wonderful. Does she support the weaponization of the IRS? The caliphate being born in the Middle East? My RTKABA? Hillary Clinton for POTUS?

Tell me what members of your 3rd party could and would do what you want them to. Be realistic and stop dreaming

Wrong choice of words on my end. I still maintain she sounds like Betty Rubble :)
