Our Guy Lost, But the Battle is Not Over

I was alone in a Biloxi Mississippi hotel room when a TV reporter named Cochran the winner over Tea Party candidate Chris McDaniel in the extremely close GOP runoff election. Losing is always heartbreaking. And yet, I strangely felt a peace about the situation.

Chris McDaniel was an excellent candidate; good looking, bright, articulate and a bold, strong, rock-solid advocate for conservatism. He has also been blessed with that certain “it factor” which all born leaders possess. McDaniel is only in his early forties. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, he'll be back! Next time, Chris McDaniel will win!

Patriots, thanks to your support, financial and otherwise, McDaniel had a real shot at winning. The combo of the Tea Party and McDaniel scared the heck out of the GOP which is why they poured tons of money and organizational resources into the race.

After the Dave Brat remarkable upset victory over Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the closeness of this runoff sent a powerful message to the GOP establishment. They MUST deal with us in the Tea Party.

I think one reason for my peace about the situation is knowing that my Conservative Campaign Committee team and I did everything we could possibly do; leaving no cards unturned. We traveled to Biloxi from our various homes across America and set up our war room. We rallied for McDaniel. We produced and ran ads and organized a small army of volunteers to make get-out-the-vote phone calls.

We endured the Mississippi humidity waving McDaniel signs on a street corner. My wife Mary was bitten several times on her feet by ants. So folks, like all of you, we did our part. Beyond that, everything else is in God's hands.

Great pep talk but at some point, it gets pretty close to being “over.” The country is barreling toward Socialism and the absolute destruction of traditional values. If every 2 or 4 years we say, better luck next time, we are going to wake up in a Communist, PC totalitarian state where having a couple conservative senators isn't going to make a damn bit of difference.

Good work, cotton1706. Next election, McDaniel has another chance.

Hope your wife was not bitten by red ants, which cause serious pain — almost as painful as being in a room with liberals.

Agreed. Especially as with each passing cycle, our demographic grows smaller and the rest go running Left.

That’s the fat Lady singing. G’Night America. The party is over.

There are a thousand ways to resist. The crucifixes never came down from the classroom walls in Poland during the 70 years of Russian rule.

We are fat, lazy and soft, but persecution will toughen us or kill us....and that is also victory.

That won't be an easy task.

In November, McDaniel will face all those whom Cochran's team convinced to vote against him in the primary, plus the rest of the Democrats.

What was the result of Alaska's write-in campaign?

We lost nothing:

This primary made very clear that the GOP has rather a LOT in common with the Dems.

This HELPS us, makes plain what very many had long only suspected.

I disagree with the premise... McDaniel didn’t “lose”. This election was stolen by a bunch of left-wing Democrats who had already voted in their respective primary race several weeks ago and therefore were NOT ELIGIBLE to vote in the runoff. However, GOP Establishment hacks not only ENCOURAGED THEM TO BREAK THE LAW, but engaged in Democrat-style fearmongering and smeared McDaniel and the Tea Party as “racists” in robo-call ads.

Just despicable. I now officially hate the GOP Establishment as much as I hate Obama and the entire Democrat party. And I hope McDaniel comes back as a write-in candidate in November and takes out the brain-dead, animal-molesting fossil Cochran. If the GOP isn’t going to support our guys, I’m no longer supporting theirs.

There. I said it.

Pretty soon there isn't going to be a 'next time'

I love your optimism but not willing to wait.

Why is no one supporting Chris in the challenge? Everyone’s acting like it’s over, move on, nothing to see. But there is something to see, illegal votes.

This isn’t a regular election where you just count votes. These votes need to be validated. If only 1/5 of those Democratic votes were by people who voted in Dem primary then Chris catches up. And I think that’s very possible.

35,000 crossover votes, double the number of absentee ballots, it’s worth looking into and we should be supporting Chris, not posting eulogies.

You hit the nail on the head...There is no difference.

If the GOP wants to sandbag and undercut our tea party candidates, we return the favor! Punish the bastards until they stop the underhanded crap.

Flipping cockroaches!

What was the result of Alaska’s write-in campaign?
______________________________________________________
Why the GOP-E won that one too!

Lisa Murkowsky lost the republican primary in Alaska..

Oh yeah, an object lesson in the perfidy of the National GOP and very specifically US Senate GOP leadership.

After conceding the GOP primary contest to Joe Miller, who was TEA party supported, the power crazed b**** set up her write in campaign as an independent.

I don’t recall what or who changed her mind after pledging her support to Miller in her concession speech. After her announcement to run as a write-in independent the Alaska GOP declined to support her. But her US Senate crony buddies rolled up their sleeves for some serious behind the curtain maneuvers for the daughter of an old GOP corrupt old boy, Frank Murkowsky.

Bam! US Senate GOP leadership release PR statement that Murkowsky, now running as Indie, would be allowed to retain her senority position if she won. Mmmmmmm...shot across the bow of Joe Miller, a big FU to the potential GOP jr Senator. The message was clear, your office would be the third cubicle in the public men’s room and committee assignments would be of the pencil counting type and Alaska would be kicked off the gravy train for their hubris in supporting a TEA favorite.

Not to be out done in the arm twisting department, the Alaska Court decided that illiteracy, stupidity, drunkenness, or crystal meth usage should be no barrier in the exercise of their enfranchisement. Any scrawl resembling the letter L, M, or an inkblot which in some way could be construed to resemble an udder would be deemed a valid vote for the Alaskan Princess.

And the little princess won.

...and proved that the third party write-in route could win.

If one lacked any scruples and had the backing of the Corrupt Bastards Club and GOP National leadership. Of course, pro-choice, pro-gay positions were just the icing.

Don’t discount the number of moron Repub votes for old man Thad either. Can’t give another younger candidate a chance? Old Thad had six terms—isn’t that enough? Apparently not and along with Mr. Bro Rangels up in NY too but Dems are a lost cause to compare with. In any event most voters are flat out morons or useful idiots easily manipulated. Frustrating indeed.

A write in campaign CAN win.

Look at the June 3 results here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-tran/elections/2014-primaries-june3

(Mississippi results are down the page)

Notice the top vote getter that night was McDaniel. The ENTIRE Democrat slate didn’t get HALF the votes of EITHER Republican.

I don’t think Cochran will get DEMOCRAT votes in the general election, do you?

McDaniel could repeat what he did on June 3 and be the next Senator from Mississippi.

Yeh we help the GOPe win their national elections and they turn around and crapola on us. Rather than appreciate the TP they vilify them instead. This cannot go on anymore without repercussions.
