Ah yes, Cochran. If I understand correctly, he is chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, evidently with complete disregard for Justice John Marshall's official clarification of Congress's limited power to tax and spend only for things that Congress can justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Cochran is arguably using revenues stolen from Mississippi (and other states) in the form of constitutonally indefensible federal taxes to buy votes from low-information voters. And since state lawmakers unthinkingly gave up the voice of the state legislatures in Congress by foolishly ratifying the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, there's little that the Mississippi legislature and other state legislatures can do about it in the foreseeable future.

Otherwise, state lawmakers need to make sure that intrastate schools star teaching students about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers the way that the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood.

Take Cochran's support for the Farm Bill for example. The Supreme Court has historically clarified, in terms of the 10th Amendment nonetheless, that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to legislatively address agricultural issues.

”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited. None to regulate agricultural production is given, and therefore legislation by Congress for that purpose is forbidden [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

Given Justice Marshall's statement on Congress's limited power to lay taxes, Congress cannot tax and spend for agricultural purposes. Again, crooks like Cochran are unconstitutionally spending for agricultural purposes probably to buy votes.

The GOP hangs by a thread tonight.

I am ready to write in a whole bunch of names this fall in most races rather than vote for Republicans or Democrats.

The Uniparty is leading this nation down the wrong path.

The “differences” between the major parties are an act put on for the cameras....

Remember what the Democrats did to Judge Charles Pickering of Mississippi when George Bush nominated him to the 5th circuit court?

Well, the Republicans just did the same thing to Mississippian Chris McDaniels.

Open primaries will ensure that it never happens. Its by design.

Serious question: When is that going to happen? And how?

“..Why the Hell would you still want to support the GOP? “

Where in the HECK did I say that?

I donate, what I can afford, to CONSERVATIVE candidates like Doug Hoffman, when he ran under the NY Conservative Party Line, or Claudia Tenney, who ran in the GOP primaries in the GOP primary NY22, etc..

The GOP has been told by me many times that I won’t contribute to them.

Best thing to do is to register as a Republican, and vote for CONSERVATIVES. Or you may feel free to keep dreaming of that pie in the sky.

“Open primaries will ensure that it never happens. Its by design.”

My state has closed primaries, thankfully, but if I lived in a state that had open primaries, I’d do all I could to change that - call talk shows, write letters to editors, contact the GOP, make a lot of noise.

If each of us do our part, we can change things.

And don’t give up because we lose some; we also win some. Keep plugging.

“..how’s that working out for us when the GOPe works against us. ..”

Reagan fought against the GOPe, and won!

If we all WORK HARD, and don’t get discouraged, we can make the party a Reagan GOP again.

I was sure he had it in the bag. All the polls looked good until right up to the end.

He DID have it in the bag. We all know, the Democrats and GOPe included, that McDaniel is the legitimate victor, but the "winner" is Cochran, the same way liberalism, representing a tyrannical minority, always wins: by cheating.

The question is: will the American majority wake up in time to resolve it peacefully? Will America put forth a "second" party alternative to the like-minded Democrat-Republican pro-government usurping of freedom? I like a Second Party because our 2nd Amendment is so crucial, and would be a uniting commonality.

The Republican party is past its prime unless it is transformed by a miracle in the next two years. As long as guys like Cochran, Barbour, and Romney are "Republican," the party is moot. It's image is exactly what it is: a hypocritical opportunist.

Legitimate, average voters know this, even if it sails over other heads. They stay home or vote third party.

They would be transformed if they had something to vote FOR.

"Republican" is an albatross.

“Getting to be a moot point when both parties are Democrats

Ever heard of Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, et al? We don’t have enough of them, but let’s keep working at it, and get more like them.

“It makes more sense for Gov. Palin to continue to find strong conservative Republican candidates and support them every way she can.”

Agreed.

“And yes, I will say extra prayers that God sends us good leaders in 2014 and 2016!”

Thanks so much for praying. I just said another prayer myself!

This is a turning point. Cochran's "win," that is. A Republican who thinks like a Democrat, horrified at the very idea of removing the Federal government from education. And he's a Republican.

The time is NOW to start breaking the ice ... new party required for the 2016 presidential, chuck the "it'll only help the Democrats" trap because quite a few Republicans help the Democrats as much.

On the bright side -- there's nothing to lose if your only other option is a leftist Republi-Dem. In that set up, what are you positioned to win? THE SAME LEFTISM!

To tell you the truth, I’m disappointed in Sarah Palin.

I don’t understand why she didn’t endorse Claudia Tenney in the congressional primary for NY’s 22nd district.

Sean Hannity had Tenney on his radio show on Friday, Laura had Tenney on her show more than once, Michelle Malkin wrote a terrific piece about Tenney, which you can access here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3169954/posts

Just like Sarah Palin, Claudia Tenney is a proud Marine Mom. Tenney has received as high as 100% from conservatives groups, 96 from the NY Conservative Party, and super high ratings from other conservative groups. Claudia had such little money and could not fight the mega lies from tv ads from super pacs.

Even with this challenge, Claudia Tenney still only lost by arouind 5%. With an endorsement from Palin, she might have won that 5%. The guy Claudia Tenney ran against was rated the 3rd most liberal Republican.

People on Twitter asked Palin to endorse Claudia Tenney. Maybe Palin didn’t see their posts, but if Palin did her homework, she would have known about Claudia Tenney, I would think.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

A little more than two years -- a measely 26 months until the 2016 presidential -- is a sprint when you're talking about turning around a party so wrong-headed that it thinks Cochran and Romney belong in the same party as Cruz and Palin.

Cruz says he thinks Obamacare should be completely overturned, and Romney thinks it needs to be revamped. They're both Republicans, but only Cruz offers something different than the Democrats. Which is the Republican, Romney or Cruz? BOTH!

Because the Republican Party is the number-one dance partner for the Democrat party, sharing the same steps. The NEW party, the second party, is a whole 'nother dancer, and I think Cruz and Palin belong in it.
