Hard Drive Crashed, Then Hard Drive Thrown Out, Then the IRS Cancelled its Email Archiving

Then a giant dog stuck its head through the window and ate all the servers.

You expect this kind of thing from Enron. You don’t expect it from the IRS. But as it turns out, there isn’t much difference.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed.

Lois Lerner’s computer allegedly crashed in June 2011, just ten days after House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Dave Camp first wrote a letter asking if the IRS was engaging in targeting of nonprofit groups. Two months later, Sonasoft’s contract ended and the IRS gave its email-archiving contractor the boot.

IRS official and frequent White House visitor Nikole Flax allegedly suffered her own computer crash in December 2011, three months after the IRS ended its relationship with Sonasoft.

Sonasoft was providing “automatic data processing” services for the IRS throughout the January 2009 to April 2011 period in which Lerner sent her missing emails.

But Sonasoft’s six-year business relationship with the IRS came to an abrupt end at the close of fiscal year 2011, as congressional investigators began looking into the IRS conservative targeting scandal and IRS employees’ computers started crashing left and right.

There should have been hard copies of the emails, but then the paper crashed.

The Internal Revenue Service is required by federal law to keep records of all agency emails and to print out hard copies of the emails to make sure they get saved in the event of a computer glitch.

The IRS’s own definition of the Federal Records Act makes clear that emails must be saved and documented, according to an instructional page for employees on the IRS website.

That’s where the giant dog came in. At least the IRS has learned how to thoroughly destroy records. Finally one arm of the government can do something right. Unfortunately it’s the wrong thing.

Did anybody else notice that when that turd from IRS “testified” last week he barely raised his hand to be sworn in? He probably had his fingers crossed on his other hand....

How about the next logical step being the our military stages a coup and we hold early presidential and congressional elections.

Yes but those emails are in someone's hands already, aren't they?
Only a silly little chicken head would not believe that.
And I would be more than terrified of the jail time they could bring if this is so.

Someone with an ounce of brains is probably already cutting a deal.
I would.

Every bit as criminal as anything ever done by the Nixon administration, but a big “ho hum” from the enemedia!

With the current batch of Propagandists in the Propaganda Wing of the White House (formerly and incorrectly known as the 'news' media), do not be surprised if they award 'Responsibility in Government' awards to the people who burned the drives and cancelled all the backups.

The military has already been purged of every officer with the stones and the level of command and control that could make that happen, sadly.

Whoever is responsible for compliance of the Federal Records Act at The IRS needs to be arrested, tried, convicted, and jailed. Then move on down the line to the next peon in line, rinse, repeat until someone comes clean, then arrest Obama, Jarrett and anyone complicit in the White house, impeach and jail.

Gordon Liddy went to prison for obstruction of justice. Destroying hard drives, discarding hard drives and wiping out e-mail archiving to cover criminal behavior is obstruction of justice. Lerner, Obama and all the parties who conspired to cover up the criminal behavior are culpable. If they are not pursued for criminal charges, then the concept of of equality before the is simply a fantasy in this country.

"Every bit as criminal as anything done by the Nixon administration"

Actually IMO-this stuff is a thousand times worse than Nixon (not excusing what he did).

If you look at all the scare tactics used against conservative groups--It wasn't just the IRS involved in trying to roadblock, threaten, and bully them into silence. More than one government agency engaged in this harassment of citizens who express disagreement with politicians. In the case of True The Vote-they (Govt. bullies) even tried calling in the FBI on the members of that group.

This whole episode ought to scare the hell out of everyone.
