Let’s Deal With Reality and Pass Immigration Reform
Politico ^ | 6/19/14 | SHELDON G. ADELSON

Posted on 06/20/2014 10:01:00 AM PDT by jimbo123

Radio show hosts and political pundits are suggesting that the primary election defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is the final nail in the coffin for passing immigration reform in this session of Congress. They surmise that other Republicans will be especially reluctant to tackle the issue for fear of losing political support.

If we are led to believe that the results of a local election with 12 percent voter turnout in a single congressional district (one out of 435) with a mere 65,000 votes cast is all that it takes to disrupt a necessary and important national policy debate, then America is in big trouble—not just on this issue, but on a whole range of issues.

I certainly hope that is not the case.

As a Republican, it’s my view that efforts to complete immigration reform should be led by our party. Some on the outer fringes of the GOP may disagree, but the truth is we are humans first and partisans second. Frankly, the Democrats don’t have a monopoly on having hearts.

I’m ALL FOR Reform on Immigration as long as the reform is rolling back the 1965 immigration act and to actually enforce immigration laws.....

I respect Sheldon Adelson for spending more than most people to try to get the Communist out of office and generally supporting conservative causes, but he lost me in this artice. He’s right that we need to overhaul work visas to make letting immigrants in to work more rational. He then goes on to try to make the case for giving illegals all kinds of government benefits and privileges. That’s where he lost me.

John Cornyn is using the same talking points on Cantor’s eviction from office:

Q: What happened to cause Majority Leader Eric Cantor to lose his Virginia primary election and did his position on immigration reform contribute?

I wouldn’t read the epitaph of immigration reform by this race. Keep in mind roughly 60,000 people voted in this primary and that’s not representative of the state or of the country.

“He’s right that we need to overhaul work visas to make letting immigrants in to work more rational.”

I actually see no need whatsoever for foreign workers. We have out-of-work people covering every occupation and specialty. Only when we have 5% unemployment (considered by economists to be “full employment) should we consider any foreign workers. As for farm labor, end welfare and those jobs will fill up too.

As a number, 65,000 is more than an adequate sample of the electorate. It would be a more reliable sample if it were more evenly distributed geographically but the margin by which Brat won is pretty significant.

I think the only thing wrong with the current immigration policy is it lack of enforcement. Send them home; every one

Why is the latest argument for “immigration reform” basically saying “If everyone is stealing then we ought to legalize stealing...”

The only reform needed is the ENFORCEMENT of existing law by the CORRUPTOCRATS running the FED GOV today, and a tweak to the immigration visa system to know when visitors have overstayed their visas and a tracking system - to prevent more instances of the 19 who took down the WTC and the Pentagon in 2001.

NO NEW LAWS REQUIRED.

To me, “immigration reform” should refer to 2 things; reforming the system of controlling future immigration and control of borders. It does not include those here illegally.

More pictures are in order of the thugs and disease ridden illegals. The poor children know who they are and where they live. They need to go back to their parents.

This was a train wreck waiting to happen. It did and it looked like it was orchestrated.

If and when the truth comes out. . .border security and deportation seems like a good platform.

This ordeal can certainly be called the “Trashing of America” . . the ramifications from it???? We have no idea!!!

Pass immigration reform?

Of course we should.

We should make it harder for illegal aliens to come here. . .how’s that for addressing immigration reform.

And by the way, when talking heads claim “the immigration system is broken,” exactly what do they mean?

They never say.

Interesting.

Sheldon Adelson lives in a huge, private mansion. You can’t get anywhere near it without permission.

Unlike many Americans he doesn’t have to deal with the actual problems created by the illegal invaders. he doesn’t have to worry about getting robbed, or having his car vandalized (or stolen). he doesn’t have to worry about illegals breaking into his house. He’s protected from the affects of the things he demands.

F*** this guy.
