It’s Father’s Day… Now Go Buy a Gun
Town Hall ^ | Jun 15, 2014 | Michael Schaus

Seriously… You can annoy a liberal, and save money at the same time. It’s like some sort of a magical set of circumstances that were created especially for gun enthusiasts on a budget. Gun stores currently have an overstock of merchandise, as sales decline from last year’s record breaking numbers. To consumers this means sales and discounted merchandise, to the industry it means a slightly less profitable year than last year, and to liberals it means an opportunity to weave an anti-gun narrative.

Brace yourself for a slew of stories about gun sales declining this year. A recent headline on Market Watch pretty much summed up the emerging trend among some pundits: Paranoia has its limits as gun sales slump. In other words: All those crazy, militant tea-partiers have finally stopped buying guns, and now businesses are coping with sales returning to normal.

Gun sales are in a decline from last year’s numbers… But, what did you expect? This isn’t a story about the declining interest in firearm ownership, it’s a story about free-market economics (which probably explains why Liberals don’t understand it). Obama, the Democrats in the Senate, and a billionaire-former-mayor of New York City, have all proven to be the best accidental-gun-salesmen in history… And that’s pretty unlikely to change.

An arsenal can only store so many weapons. Mine is full.

I don't know. I can always make room for more. May make the trip up to Cheaper Than Dirt in McKinney to see what they've got.

My cousin’s philosophy is, “I’ve got way more than I ever need and not nearly as much as I want.”

He applies this to firearms, bows, ammo, etc.

Never enough. My Father’s Day to me was a Marlin 1895 GS in stainless with a Leupold VX 3 silver scope. 45-70 Govt caliber.

My FIL has so many guns he has to hide them from his wife, who politely looks the other way. They are not antiques, for the most part. Might be as many as a hundred long guns.

Getting him a gun for Father’s Day might not be noticed. He gets a nice recliner instead.

You need a “boating accident” soon, to make room for more. Heh.

I do not hold that any ‘special day’ should be reason, alone,
to purchase any firearm.

“Oh, go git ya one ‘cause “the industry” ainta doin’ so good
right now!” BS!

“The industry”is doing fine. It’s getting a whole bunch of
govt money, whether you like it or not! Be it a new/old
1911 pistol, or the govt making the ammo makers
go into overtime, to fill their more-important-than-you-the-consumer
contracts, thereby deleting making ammo loads for
your specific rig, therefore rendering your firearm, useless.

I chose revolvers because they work, and are simpler
than the others. I chose lead ammo loads, because
they work.

My safe is overflowing right now.

I do have two revolvers on layaway, though.

I’m thinking about a Ruger 77/44 or a 77/357.

Bolt action carbine for pistol cartridges, with built in scope mounts and rings.

I went to an old mans house one time to pick up a couch his daughter sold us.

We admired the old mans cuckoo clock collection, and she said ‘you should see his guns’

She proceeded to take us around the house showing us closets full of old military guns, a basement full of guns, and then to the garage, which had more guns than I could even imagine in one place.

To say this man had 2,000 guns in his house wouldn’t be any exaggeration, and it’s possible there were far more than that.

I tried yesterday. Been looking for a Winchester Half-Octogon Model 1892 in .357 Magnum. My favorite gun shop doesn’t have one and their distributors don’t have any in the pipeline. I’m guessing they are limited production run guns. I’ll just have to keep looking! :-)
