The amount of dough they have spent on infrastructure over the years should preclude what is claimed to have happened.
These people are perjuring themselves. Backup tapes can be restored.
Anybody with a shred of experience knows this is a blatant lie. This is simply impossible due to the way data is “mirrored” and stored in multiple places and backed up the wazoo.

Criminals “lose” evidence needed by investigators all the time.
If every white-collar prosecution depended upon information being turned over by the accused, I very much doubt that a single white-collar criminal would ever be convicted of anything.
Prosecutors of white-collar crimes know how to piece together the facts from fragments stored in different places.
Next to e I go to an IRS audit I’ll use the same tactic. Bet it won’t ork the other way around...
Throw everyone who touched her computer and the mail servers into prison for evidence tampering.

I worked for the Federal government for 36 years. It is impossible to lose two years of emails. A few hours worth maybe in extreme circumstances.
Simply. Not. Possible.
This is criminal. So? Does Lois Lerner personally have the expertise to ferret out every fragment of data, from every mirror site, from every RAID array, relating to her two years of missing e-mails?
If not, she had help.
That's a conspiracy.
The penalties for that are steep.
There would have been at least a few different people involved. Someone would have had to coordinate all this activity. There would have been communication between the different individuals who would have had to take separate actions to make this information disappear.
There would be electronic logs. There would have been certificates on CAC cards. There would have been packet loggers.
Find the weak sister. Work up from there.
This is white-collar prosecution 101.
