IRS says it lost key Lerner emails Agency blames 2011 hard drive crash for data loss

I’m gonna just go ahead and say this is nothing but a bunch of HOOEY:

WASHINGTON TIMES – The IRS told Congress on Friday that it has lost some of former employee Lois G. Lerner’s emails, including some covering communications with Democrats in Congress and with other parts of the government, according to the House’s top tax-law writer.

Rep. Dave Camp, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, said he was stunned that it took more than a year into the investigation for the IRS to inform Congress that it didn’t have those emails.

The agency blamed a computer crash for the mishap.

“The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRS’s response to congressional inquiries,” Mr. Camp said. “There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.”

The IRS is obviously steeped in corruption. If this isn’t an argument to abolish the IRS, I don’t know what is.

Maybe they should check Hillary’s library table top.

Why would he be surprised. It takes a long time to make sure you've deleted all the backups of all the emails of everyone on the email chain. First you have to locate the emails, then you have to search on each recipent and respondent, then everyone they've responded to...

It's a major, time consuming project to get everything wiped clean.

They are stonewalling and lying. If we had a functioning Justice Department, they would all be brought up on charges of contempt of Congress and obstruction of justice.

These emails would obviously lead us right into the WH. Does anyone other than democrats not see that clearly now?

I would bet that there are even personal emails between dogface Lerner and jug ears himself ordering her to make it impossible for conservative groups to get their tax exempt status.

Arrest dogface and keep her until she talks.

It use to be “Not a SHRED”, but they don’t have to shred documents any more.

You’ll know the Republicans are serious about this scandal when they pass a bill to cut the IRS’s funding. Don’t hold your breath though.

Wait a minute. Didn’t the NSA just tell Congress that they couldn’t delete anything in order to comply with investigations? Get the emails from the spooks.

This IRS has to go into the dustbin of history. It is the greatest threat to what few freedoms we have left.

“What we’ve got here is failure to communicate” is a quotation from the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke, spoken at different points in the movie first by Strother Martin.”

Don’t think it is going to get any better under Obama.
I think Moochie has the best shot at correcting the situation.

The agency blamed a computer crash for the mishap.

They make it sound like the IRS's e-mail server is an old Kaypro 386 with dual Seagate 251 MFM drives connected to a DT2000 external SCSI tape drive.

With backup systems and protocols in place, if these emails were actually deleted, then it was an intentional criminal act...

Ah geez, I have lost count...is this impeachable offense #437 or is it #12343?

My head is hurting from trying to keep up...

It is possible. Computers do wear out and fail over time...
Was it a hard drive that went bad and is unreadable now, or was it the damage caused by the 16 pound sledgehammer used during the refurbishment of the unit?

That’s what I’m thinking.

I’m sure the NSA has them anyway.
