Even the pundits at CNN had to agree – President Obama’s reception at West Point was nothing short of “icy.” His graduation speech has been slammed as being less “Commander in Chief” and more “policy wonk playing defense.” And the way the audience reacted supports it.
He receives a standing ovation from about a fourth of the audience who has come to see the the West Point class of 2014 graduate and commission as 2nd Lieutenants, and throughout his speech, he receives only mild applause from the graduates and their friends and families.
Compare that to the speech President George W. Bush gave to the corps of cadets in 2008 in his last military academy speech as President:

Agree, Zero hates everything of, for, and about America, including its Constitution, Bill of Rights, virtues, culture, and character. He doesn’t identify with Americans, because he isn’t one. He’s a Muzzie-Marxist Person of the World, as he sees it.
Actually it was about Duty,Honor, and Country in the sense that Obama was relaying his vision of the new role for the military in his transformed America. The new military is now an agent for good and fighting climate change rather than being an organization that breaks things and kills bad guys in the name of protecting America.
I could not sit there and let this sob brow beat me with his ideology and BS. He is not addressing them, he is lecturing them.
I’m getting to be an old man and they are young men with a whole life ahead of them. I’d vote my principles and walk out and suffer the consequences.

The contrast of EVERYTHING ABOUT the two Presidents, err “men”, err “speakers” is astounding!
Ew bama wants a weak America, and a strong military is incompatible with that. The cadets realize that they are an unwanted obstacle to his goal.
In case of ceremonial delays, troops in formation normally are called to “attention”, given “at ease”, and then “rest” (free to move & talk but keep one foot in place) until called to attention again. Not in this case, obviously.
Worst wait position is “parade rest”, more tiring than attention because the hands are clasped behind the back.
Anyway, West Pointers gave POTUS the mostly silent treatment. They get it.
Notice how Oblammo backpedaled on his earlier contempt for American exceptionalism? Betcha he thinks no one will notice.

It’s what the Clinton-Gates-Kerry-Obama “Pentagon” is accepting, demanding, training, promoting, rating, and coddling over there in all branches at all levels: The “new” US Navy radio and TV recruiting ads emphasize “do good” and “rescue foreigners” rather than “go to sea and fight” ....
And, Yes, Bush DID keep promoting some of these “leaders” we see surrendering and bowing today.
Saw part of the video and the part I viewed the cadets were all at attention. I hated the “parade rest” at change of command ceremonies, especially when it was on the parade field in August.
Bush engaged the cadets by speaking with them, as a part of them. Obama, in his typical broken cadence, was aloof from the cadets, an outsider coming to condescend. Obama has no business being there. He is an irritating pimple on America’s butt, not a leader.
I wouldn’t use “His Excellency” either. It was the appellation given to Geo. Washington when he became president although he evidently thought the title to be too imperious.
A simple “der Fuehrer” or maybe “Il Douchebag” fits the kenyan much better.
