Certainly, Gates is in league with Satan. I seriously doubt that a "strong majority" voted for the BSA to bend the law "morally straight."
The current administration is also in the same league with their push for same sex marriage and gays in all positions of the scouts. Gates has strong connections with the current administration and wants to please his bosses. Other cowardly scout executives fear losing funding and the support of the military, given that scouting is a big business.
They have given up their integrity, and like termites systematically destroying a foundation of a wooden house, the BSA organization will eventually crumble because its foundation has been compromised.
Correct.
4/19/2013 - The BSAs National Executive Committee (~23 voting members) unanimously approved and released its membership standards resolution, which proposed removing the restriction denying membership to youth on the basis of sexual orientation alone and maintaining the current membership policy for all adult leaders of the BSA. Under the new proposal, there is a national standard and no local option. The resolution is presented below.
BSA Executive Summary of MAR 2013 Voice of the Scout Survey
Key Findings - excerpts
Attitudes and opinions among Americans related to gay and lesbian relationships have changed rapidly over the past 3 years.
Four experts were consistent in their findings and recommendations
David Finkelhor, Ph.D.
W. Walter Menninger, M.D., psychiatry
Charol Shakeshaft, Ph.D.
Victor Vieth, J.D.
The nearly universal opinion among sexual abuse authorities is that same-sex sexual interest or same-sex sexual experience, either in adults or youth, is NOT a risk factor for sexually abusing children.
In regard to role modeling: Most of the research on the effect on children of associating with self-identified homosexual adults has been done about homosexual parents. The clear conclusion from this research is that there appear to be no effects on childrens adjustment, mental health or sexual orientation.
61% of scouters favored the current policy, 34 % oppose it.
61% of Boy Scout parents supported the current policy, while 50% of Cub Scout parents backed it (45% of Cub Scout parents opposed it).
51% of major donors support the current policy while 33% oppose it. But a majority of Fortune 500 companies want to see the policy changed.
A majority of teens ages 16-18 in the Boy Scouts program oppose the current policy. A percentage was not given.
BSA National also said that parents, teens and the Scouting community "do not favor" the local option as proposed in FEB.
The summary of findings said a policy change would cost the Scouts a minimum of 100,000 to 350,000 (13.5%) members. It is believed any gain in membership because of a change to the membership policy related to youth and adults would be in the range of 10,000 to 20,000 (<1%) youth.
Though not named specifically, the Mormon Church, BSAs largest chartered organization denomination, did not respond.
BSA National contacted 30 national youth-serving, government, foundation, and community organizations (many of which are strategic partners of the BSA), and asked to what extent they support or oppose the current BSA policy:
Twenty-eight want change and oppose the current BSA policy, one is neutral and somewhat opposes the policy, and one wants no change and supports the current policy.
The main concern of the 28 organizations that want the BSA to change is that if the policy remains the same, national organizations cannot support the BSA, making it very difficult for those organizations to work/collaborate with the BSA because of the exclusion of youth and lack of diversity in the BSA.
