Kudos to your mother for her dedication to her job and attempts at making improvements.
This year I started taking my 81-yr old father to Lyons VA Hospital in NJ and have nothing but good things to say about the staff. Fellow vets look after each other with a sense of caring and understanding that you don’t see anywhere else. They do a great job under difficult circumstances, and it’s sad that there are so many veterans who can’t be helped beyond a certain point. I’m sure it weighs on them plenty.
The problem is the management and bureacracy, which turns the VA process into the ninth circle of hell. Most of it seems to be administrative CYA but there is also plain old buffoonery. You can tell when some mid-level non-military twit adds a step in the process or changes a piece of paperwork, just to score points on their resume.
Another scandal?
I thought that all the others were phony scandals.

First of all, he made speeches condemning the wait time for veterans to get care. Now he says he heard about it on TV.
Second, the NY Times says this is “another” scandal. Are they saying all the other scandals weren’t phony as obama claims?
