A Terrifying GIF Of An Ice Age Ripping Through The US

The northern ice cap creeps over earth.

As we watch glaciers around the world recede, we sometimes hear the argument that these changes are part of the Earth's natural fluctuation. To some extent, they are.

We've been in a relatively stable and warm period for at least 15,000 years. And we are unnaturally making the Earth even warmer. Before that, ice ages covered most of the Northern Hemisphere with glaciers.

The last of the five major ice ages, called the Pleistocene glaciation, began about 1.5 million years ago. It is thought to be caused in part by the Earth getting less of the sun's warming radiation — because of the pull of other planets in our solar system.

The Pleistocene glaciation contained at least 20 ice fluctuations within it, in which ice advanced and receded. Sometimes, up to 30% of Earth was covered in ice.

At times this included the better part of North America — California became almost completely entombed in ice. Today, evidence of the glacial takeover can be found as far down as southern California's San Bernardino Mountains.

This article is just wrong; it's been 14,437 years, according to my guesstimate. But I and my family and all my ancestors have been grateful for this relatively stable and warm period.

lol... only problem with this is that the book of Revelation says the earth is going down by fire this time.

Don’t hold your breath for an ice age... Ice would be Nice compared to what’s coming.

Although the Sierra Nevada mountains were covered with glaciers during the last ice age I’m fairly certain the central valley as well as the entire coast were ice free. Unlike what is implied in this GIF.

The Central Valley of California was once an inland sea with a depth of up to 1500'. As the glaciers melted the inland sea filled in with debris from that erosion. It's pretty easy to see evidence of this especially around Roseville where we used to live.

And there's no evidence of glaciation anywhere on the California coast and I've seen a lot of it. But at Yosemite and elsewhere in the Sierra it's obvious.

What is terrifying is all the New Yorkers who would permanently move down here in Florida! Egads.

Start warming up the Earth now! Turn on all lights in the house, run your heating and AC 24 hours a day, let your vehicles idle for hours, run your lawn mower, fire up the BBQ, etc.

Done.

Buy woolen socks.

Already own a pair. But they're not due for washing until June.

When in danger,
When in doubt,
Run in circles,
Scream and shout!

Cannot do. GIF has me too terrified to move more than my fingers.

Of all the GIFs I’ve ever seen in my whole life, that is without a shade of a doubt the absolutely THE most terrifying!
What do you suggest we do?

Invade Mexico to escape from the tyrannical cold… obviously.

Anyone can make a terrifying fantasy GIF. The image below is historically what actually happened in the last ice age. Given the length and stability of that time frame, I suspect it won't be much different next time.

You can read more at Ice Age Now as provided by Robert Felix on his website. Good current events coverage and good historical perspective. The area north of the black line was glacier.

Maybe one of these days just one of the endless scary predictions made by the Global Warming fanatics will really happen.

But not likely since they have never made one forecast that came anywhere near to being correct.

And which of the following would work out better for ife on eath?

1 - Warming to the point that most of Canada and Siberia became temperate and farmable?

2 - Cooling to the point most of the USA is once again under a one mile thick ice sheet?
