That happened in Southern Oregon also and the Josephine County Sheriff told them how the cow ate the cabbage and put a stop to it.

Well said, this is a typical tactic of the enviro-nazis and they’ve had success with it.

I thought mice and rodents were pests to be eliminated. What makes this one so special?

They should be wiped out as any rodent should be because the nutjob enviro-nazis are what supposedly make this nuisance pest “special.”

What I think is odd is, the same people that expound on the greatness of evolution, want to prevent the normal evolutionary act of a species going extinct

Doesn't make sense

The mouse that roared. They are trying to provoke a showdown. They think they can control the outcome. I think they underestimate how much it means for freemen to remain so.
The president does not understand the American experience, he was not raised American. Japanese Admirals of WWII have a better understanding of Americans than the current president. He had better read up.

The Government will be sending a Federal Agent as personal body guard to each jumping mouse.....I volunteer my Donald O. Rumsfeldt (aka Rummy-Dummy) for duty. In no time ain’t no jumping mousies or kangaroos or other hoppity critters. He’s always pissed.

No. Communists ARE and always have been the environmental movement. This is what people need to understand. Environmental/green issues has a long history with communists, fascists and National Socialists as both a tool and as a method of control.

It’s all there in the history books and people need to stop thinking of them as hippies crying in trees.

I’m amused by all the threads on here decrying the actions of the various federal agencies (e.g. USFS, BLM et al). They don’t make the rules, they just (try to) enforce the rules, rules that are made by Congress. Rules that were demanded by you and I. That’s right. You. Me. As in “We The People”. Unfortunately, We the People doesn’t just include those of us in FReeper Land and those of us living in the hinterlands of the far west. It also includes people in New York and Boston, Tampa and Chicago, Seattle and Los Angles and even (shudder) San Francisco...

The environmental groups like the Sierra Club and a whole host of others go to the folks in these great population centers, show them a picture of a lush green forest and a clearcut or a scrawny cow kicking up dust in an overgrazed field and a picture of a beautiful meadow and a stream, and say, “Which one do you like best? Write your congressman and senator and tell them to support our programs and we can make it happen! (and by the way, send us money...)” So, legislation is passed, agencies like the EPA are built and nobody cares a whit what the professional managers say. All it takes is the price of a stamp to protest a timber sale or other action and tie it up in court for years. Everything is geared toward the protestors, even to the point of the feds having to pay their court costs. Until that process is changed so that the protestors have a little more stake in the game, nothing is going to change.

Oh, by the way. Dumping Decon isn’t going to solve anything. It’s still “Habitat”, even if the mouse isn’t there. If you have a thick northern forest with snowshoe rabbits (hares) present, it’s considered lynx habitat, even if there hasn’t been one there in a hundred years....

I see your point but I'm not amused in the least when an administration such as the current one takes measures to enforce rules (laws) that Congress has not enacted or decided to arbitrarily change policies because of current people in the administration.

The following is an excerpt from the article I linked in my comment #1:

“It’s not just the Forest Service,” said Mr. Dunn. “Since the beginning of the year on a lot of issues — Endangered Species Act issues, federal land-management issues, easements and use of federally controlled property — we’ve seen federal agencies become extremely defiant toward any sort of local input and extremely adverse to allowing people to continue to use things they’ve used in some instances for 100 years.”

He said there is speculation that John Podesta, who became White House senior counsel in December, initiated the tougher policies. A former head of the left-wing Center for American Progress, Mr. Podesta is known as a staunch environmentalist and hard-liner on climate change.

Local Forest Service employees have acknowledged that their orders are coming from Washington, Mr. Dunn said.

Funny how the “progressives” could not figure out if they just had to push some folks around, the Cowpokes were the last ones who would just roll over.

Yes the WhiteyHut is very subversive to our liberty and prosperity, but they are also totally inept on every front. Good for us they can’t get their shite together.

Yes, Old Forester, you are right on the money. The city dwellers in San Francisco where shown pictures of cute, cuddly, fuzzy, mountain lions and hunting lions was banned in California. There are now too many lions in California and after 100 years of no lion attacks on people, there are now at least 10 dead, killed by lions in the last decade.

Still another factor to consider is that as the old guard resource oriented employes are retiring or other wise leaving, the new, younger employes taking their place are more likely to be brainwashed by the environmental movement and are more likely to have the attitude of “Oh, we’ve been appealed, we can’t do it” or “There’s no use trying that. We’d just get appealed” instead of standing up and trying to fight for what is right. This especially extends to the government lawyers who will look at an appeal and say “We aren’t going to bother fighting it - we’ve got bigger fish to fry.” It’s enough to make folks say, “Yeah, whatever, ok.” when a new edict comes down from Washington. (And, I will admit, there are way too many of the new breed all to ready to push whatever new scheme the overlords send their way....)

The argument falls flat when action is taken over an event (listed as endangered) that MIGHT happen. That is not in the scope of the regulations and thus outside their authority.
