Today the Obama administration publishes its latest National Climate Assessment on the state of global warming. The bad news - inevitably - is that the news is very bad: more heat, more extreme weather, more drought, everything worse than ever before.
Fortunately, there's some good news too: you don't need to believe a word because, just like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's reports, this document is much more a political one than a scientific one.
Its purpose is described well in the headline of this Rolling Stone article: Obama's Last Shot: "Taking action on climate is one of the most important goals in the president's second term," John Podesta, counselor to the president and his point man on climate policy, told me a few weeks ago. "He feels a profound and urgent obligation to get as much done as he can before he leaves office."
Of course he does but in order to achieve these intrusive, radical, economically-damaging changes - America still being, more or less, a democracy - Obama first needs to make a persuasive case that they are actually necessary. Otherwise, there might be quite a lot of resistance, say, from the coal-producing states (over his ongoing war on fossil fuels);
Nope, Rolling Stone, the gamble has nothing to do with the future of the planet and everything to do with the Obama administration's credibility. It's a question of how much longer - using all its muscle and money and MSM alliances - the Obama administration can carry on persuading an increasingly sceptical public to go on believing in something that their eyes tell them isn't happening, that their wallets tell them is economically damaging, and that a growing body of hard science tell them is non-existent.

Even if true (which there is no evidence that it is), many more have died by driving up the costs of our fuels - thus causing those on a limited budget to be deprived of air conditioners in the summer and heating in the winter. Add on top of that the rerouting of food supplies to create ethanol - thereby driving up the cost of food - you have the leftist Greenies murdering more people through their social engineering policies than the alleged deaths due to phantom AGW.
Libs want to eliminate about 3 billion people, and studies like this will give them the rationale.
I thought they renamed it “Global Climate Disruption”? You’ve got to give these buffoons credit. The idiocy NEVER stops flowing out of that open grave under their noses.
And you have to give these idiots credit. The keep pushing the ball "forward". They always go back to their idiot agenda. And the GOPe, at best, just stops the agenda for a while.

The biggest reason is because everything they said would happen in ten years, twenty years ago, has never happened. Instead it has actually become a little colder and MORE ice has formed. Particularly around my house on the North Coast! I think there is still some ice in piles at the local shopping centers where they had stacks fifty feet high.
And the lies continue. And grow and grow and grow.
Even then it is problematical as the various government agencies are festooned with liberal nut cases who can proclaim their policies without fear of being fired. One election won't do it. It will take a vigorous housecleaning and that, IMHO is damn near impossible. The Libs have been setting this up for over a century and its not going to be an easy row to hoe.
I understand what you are saying. But I suspect that what you say, talking about cause and effect, unintended consequences, etc. is too much for liberals to understand. Liberals prefer short slogans rather than nuanced detailed discussions about the ramifications of their policies.
Because normal Americans cannot be convinced that warmer climate causes record cold weather.
Whether the next POTUS is a Pubbie or Hillary, avoiding the economic full nosedive into the ground is going to require making a 180 degree turn and making peace with energy producers.
The only way it won’t happen is if another Obama Radical nudges Hil out of her birthright and goes on to beat some Bob Dole/John McCain stiff.
That’s why this Tom Steyer guy is such an idiot. Everyone knows that once this election is over he’s going under the bus. Except for Steyer, apparently. The Dems just want to rape his bank accounts, and he appears all too willing to oblige.
Sorry, Tom. The combined global energy business has WAY more money to bribe Democrats with than YOU do.
And he has to fatten up the race card so he and his brothers won’t be busted on any charges.
