That is horrible. May God welcome Mr. Jarvis into paradise and comfort and strength to his family.
A post should have a point. It should not just express a fact.
What is the point of this post?
“Motorcycles are free to use carpool lanes in California. In fact they are encouraged to use them because then they don’t have to split lanes.”
Maybe they should re-think that...
No thank you. But if you go away I wouldn’t care.
I'm betting some driver crossed the double yellow to get out of the traffic and clipped the rider. I know that area well. You have to get way past Main Street before the double yellow disappears and you can merge into the car pool lane.
Someone probably just jumped into the lane without looking. It happens a lot right there. People just can't wait till the lane opens before jumping in. It's a $400 fine to do it, but since the traffic there at 9 AM is usually pretty much a standstill, people think they can get away with it.
I think the carpool lane there is stupid and dangerous. They need more lanes, not less. I rarely take the freeway through Corona anymore. I just take the side streets. It may not be faster, but at least you are moving.
Personally I hate all carpool lanes. They are inherently dangerous because the carpool lane is zipping along at 50 mph right next to traffic that is standing still. It is a recipe for disaster, not only for motorcycles but for everyone.
But carpool lanes are a liberal's wet dream.
I generally don't use them even when I am carpooling. I usually just leave just stay in the right lane and listen to the radio.
RIP.
Repeat that 34,000 times.
“I think the carpool lane there is stupid and dangerous.”
You just made my point... If it’s dangerous for a car, it’s 10X worse for a bike. Guy shouldn’t have been there. Of course it’s tough when someone get’s in a accident, but no tougher because it’s an off duty police officer.
RIP x 34,000.
You have to read 34000 posts about people who died in car accidents.
No matter how you slice it, riding a motorcycle in any situation is probably 50 times more dangerous than driving a car. People pull out in front of motorcycles in all lanes on the freeway. I once drove past a motorcyclist who had his head run over by an 18 wheeler. The truck driver was unhurt.
We get your point @$$#0L3.
Good.
Motorcycles are allowed in the carpool lane in CA. So kindly keep your ignorance to yourself.
Prayers to his family.
We have some real zot bait on this thread (not the OP). Just thought I would give you a heads-up...
I don’t think you get the point. I don’t really point. I have A Question. Why out of 34,000 traffic deaths per year is this particular traffic death worth raising up to our consciousnesses?
The far left lane (including a carpool lane) is the safest lane of travel for motorcyclists.
Sorry to hear that, I hear about accidents all the time, but when its kids, it seems far worse.
I pray for healing for that family and this guy’s family in this accident.
I clicked here just because I was curious about why a simple accident was posted here. I’m with you on this one. I don’t understand why it’s here.
