If Rick cares so much about poor people, he should dedicate the rest of his life to helping them... without government largesse.

Unfortunately has absolutely correct.

--------------

‘Do Republicans care as much about the poor as Democrats do?’”

Santorum said at a New York meeting of conservatives. “I’m not sure we do. I’m not sure we do.

You believe he's right about this? And you concede the DNC-MSM meme that 'Democrats' actually care about the poor? And 'Republicans' don't, as much?

Here they go again, R party leaders striving to lose more elections in the face of almost unavoidable victories. With a little more effort, these utterly imcompetent leaders could lose an election running unopposed.

Democrats want everyone to be equally poor and dependent upon them.

Republicans want everyone to be as rich as their talent and work ethic will take them.

Democrats want to enable those who choose to do nothing to take from those who choose to do more than is necessary.

Republicans want those who choose to do more than is necessary (the makers) to keep as much of what they have earned as possible.

Democrats want to take what those people (the makers) have earned and give it to those who have chosen to do nothing (the takers).

Republicans want everyone to have an equal opportunity to achieve their dreams. Democrats want equality of results. But since it's impossible for everyone to be equally rich, Democrats in essence wish for every to be equally poor.

Everyone wants (both Republicans and Democrats) to take care of those who actually CAN'T take care of themselves (severally mentally or physically disabled). But those who actually CAN'T take care of themselves are only a small fraction of those the government is currently supporting by taking from those who have chosen to do more.

If all the above means Republicans care less about the poor, then by all means, yes I care less about the poor. Because I could care less about someone who CHOOSES to do nothing.

Given that Santorum is referring to federal GOP, he is evidently clueless that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend on behalf of the poor. The Founding States had made the 10th Amendment to clarify that the Constitution's silence about issues like the poor mean that such things are automatically unique state power issues. This is evidenced by the following excerpts.

Santorum, we don't want government "caring for" anybody. That is not the job of government.

The only legitimate Constitutional thing we've delegated to government and pay them to do is to defend our God-given lives and freedoms.

Another example of a religious conservative who is an economic socialist.

Which means that he isn't a religious conservative, religious conservatives make up the foundation of economic conservatism and limited government, in America.
