I think Lewis is trying to force the issue to point out the hypocrisy of an all-black league....what's good for the goose is good for the gander as the old expression goes...
The proposal was swiftly condemned by the mayor of Augusta, one of the 12 Southeastern cities the league is eyeing.
'I could not support in good conscience bringing in a team that did not fit with the spirit of inclusiveness that I, along with many others, have worked so hard to foster in our city,' Deke Copenhaver told the Augusta Chronicle.
The reporter didn't do his job: He should have asked the Mayor of Augusta if he would also condemn an all-black league that was eyeing his town for one of their black-only teams.

When one hits the link for the Augusta Chronicle in the article, and it just goes to another page of the Daily News, well, it confirms what I thought from the git-go.
Satire. And not bad satire at that.
