My wife and I are appraisers, and have to deal with dogs daily. I have been bitten once in all the years, and wasn’t ‘charged’ by the dog. Dang dog just quietly walked up and clamped down. But dogs that are territorial, charge, a firm voice and standing your ground will routinely stop the dog. Cops just don’t know how to deal with dogs.

Most biters do not bark.

A barking dog is a good dog giving you a warning and a chance to make a choice.

Hubby's been a plumber for over 20 years and he's been nipped ONE time, but never seriously bitten.

Of COURSE a dog is going to bark and run toward (the cops call it 'charging') a stranger that shows up on the property!

IT'S THEIR JOB!

I just recently acquired my first blue heeler, and this is heartbreaking. Stories like this is exactly why I live in the country and provide for my own safety. When I'm through dealing with it and have secured my dogs, THEN I'll call the cops.
