Are reports of the death of a viable challenge to Lindsey Graham grossly exaggerated?

There hasn’t been a lot of polling in the South Carolina Republican Senate primary, but what polling there is shows Lindsay Graham ahead by 30%+ against potential challengers.

But it may still be a challenge for Graham to get the 50% he needs in the primary to avoid a runoff, and generating a runoff in which all the anti-Graham vote could coalesce, has been the strategy all along.

South Carolina, you're breakin' my heart...Nikki Haley and Tim Scott are awesome. But Miss Lindsey?? Are you for real?

Put the old girl out to pasture and replace her with a CONSTITUTIONALIST. PLEASE!

This South Carolinian isn’t worried; it’s obvious the lamestream press is attempting to create a predetermined outcome. They are trying to ignore that in S.C. a large number of primary challengers nearly guarantee Flimsey not getting an initial majority & he’ll be forced into a runoff.

Sorry for his first two terms (I voted against Tinkerbelle) but people have finally realized what he really is.

Thanks; I truly hope you’re right. Should a challenger arise who is worthy after the initial primary, I hope to be able to help send a campaign contribution.

Firing Lindsey and replacing her with a Constitution loving American would be awesome.

The one thing I DO worry about is what these primaried Republicans will do during the lame duck session of Congress—after the election, what incentive do defeated RINOs have to listen to the constituents who just fired them? Answer: none.

Obama’s last month and a half, I predict, will be a disaster. I would not be surprised if he issued midnight pardons to terrorists...and do many other irresponsible things via “executive order”.

Miss Lindsey is so odious it would be tempting to vote for his opponent in the general, just to scrape him off.

Polling indicates that one of the challengers can get into the high 20’s, and that Graham might be stuck in the low to mid 40s in the primary. With the dynamic in that state this year, that would make for a do-able run off scenario.

How did he even get in? Did SC go through what is happening in NC right now? Who is voting -for- him? Why?!?!?

the media propaganda that is pro RINO/democrat or whom ever serves the establishment/ruling elite so when they rig election results it appears plausible. one would think people are sick of this crap already and should start acting accordingly.

Sadly, unless and until the S.C. GOP closes the primaries, the Palmetto State will be stuck with Lyndsey as democrats and liberals will gladly vote in the GOP primary to assure the most liberal Republican will be their representative in the Senate (because there is NO way S.C. voters will send a Dem to the Senate).

Lindsey was the anointed successor to Strom Thurmond in 2002; even then he was depicted as a pygmy in a giant’s shoes.

Seniority is a pernicious thing; it’s hard for some voters to throw away as it eventually grows to bring in the pork as with Mitch McConnell.

Lindsey is gone; he’s run out of disguises.

Thanks for the reply. Coattails and incumbency do indeed go far. GLAD to hear he is gone, as he is a national embarassment.

"Are reports of the death of a viable challenge to Lindsey Graham grossly exaggerated?"

They should have asked this question about Hillary after John F. Kennedy Jr.'s death. Answer: No!

The goal right now is to simply keep Miss Graham from getting 50% in the Primary, while advancing the best candidate in the field to beat him in the runoff. Nobody can beat him outright in the Primary, so this is the only path.

But there’s also a Dem primary now, so that could siphon off some of that…..

SC, like Texas, Georgia, other very red states….can sometimes get comfy country club Republicans in position of power….because it doesn’t take a great Republican to win in these states. Add that to the fact that LG was not this bad 12-15 years ago……and it’s easy to see how. Remember, Cornyn wins in Texas, Chambliss won in Georgia, Cochran in Mississippi…….it happens.

That is quite true, but some red states are turning a bit blue around the gills too, due to demographics shifts. I was wondering about SC because my familiarity with the state is very out of date.

SC is no where near NC in that regard, and yes, you are right, the yankees are moving down to the south and then voting the same crap they escaped in their new home. It’s shameful, and I’m sure some of that is true in SC, especially around Charleston and Greenville, some in Columbia, but not nearly the situation in NC.

And that is what I was wondering. I’ve seen it at work in NC up close and very recently. Thanks for the update.

Tell me about it…Wake County, where I lived until 3 months ago, went Obama by 10%. That’s astonishing. That’s not the county I grew up in.
