One problem with solar is you have to set these things up in an area where there is cheap land that will not be developed in the near future. This means putting the solar farm a long distance from the city that will use it. The energy loss from transmission loss adds to the inefficiency of the solar panels. Then you have to have supplemental power generation ready to go for cloudy conditions and nighttime demand. As more auto batteries get charged up at night, there will be increasing nighttime demand.
Starting up a supplemental power plant is not as simple as pushing a switch. It requires the building of rapid starting fast cycling power plants. These still take about an hour to get on line. All add to the cost of the system and should be added to the cost per kilowatt hour of any renewable system like solar.
I have very little hope of trying to reason with the left. They want to deny us free speech and call us evil monsters. We need short and sweet messages for the mushy headed middle.
