An accused street gang member standing trial in federal court in Salt Lake City was shot to death by a deputy U.S. marshal on Monday as the defendant attacked a witness who was testifying against him, federal law-enforcement officials said.

Siale Angilau, 25, lunged at the witness wielding what appeared to be a pen or pencil in his hand, prompting a federal officer in the courtroom to open fire to halt the attack, according to Melodie Rydalch, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Reports are that the BLM hired Special Forces types to handle this. That one “BLM” agent sporting a Beard looked like he was ex SF.

While I certainly don’t mourn the death of this thug, I would question whether we really want to give our law enforcement personnel such power. A trained marshall cannot take down a defendant armed with a pen without resorting to lethal force? Like I said, the death of this defendant is no great loss. However, it seems that restraint and proper management of situations like these by our police has been lost, and that is a much greater loss.

Excuse me?
Where do you get off accusing me of laughing, sporty?
This is not a laughing matter at all.
You might want to activate your sarcasm detector before you go off pontificating again.

"Was the Marshall’s Service involved in the Bundy fiasco?"
no..the that would've required a real Federal Judge's signature
not a corrupted "Rustler" Reid's Lackey BLM administ. handbill.
This Bundy stand-off, had only "Rustler" Reid's fingerprints/$$ all over it.
this time, a (armed) Patriot, stood up and offered resistance to Reid's BLM thuggery; "Rustler" Reid's cards
have laid still (for now). Don't expect the GOP Establishment to oppose it, they're sleeping w/ Reid.

Sounds like a good shoot to me. Nothing wrong with killing as long as the right people get killed (or something like that).

Perhaps the officer didn’t have time to try to tackle the perp, who sounds like he was about to ram a pencil into the eye socket of the witness.

The only thing I can see that could have been done differently would be to position the Marshal in proximity to the defendant in such a way that the situation never reached the point that it did.

Did his counsel not advise him to not attack the witnesses?

You are right, I should had. I got a bad habit that if I know something, everyone else does too. In the future, I will try to be more specific. Right after I clicked post, I thought he is going to think I am defending the guy. While I did write laugh too loud or too long, I did not intend to infer that you were laughing. In fact, now that I thought about It, I don’t know what I was thinking. So I am going to contact the moderator and ask him to pull the post. For that matter, I may need to activate my brin also.

That was my impression.

What the BLM had against Mr. Bundy was a civil judgment. A government agency has no more right to breach the peace to satisfy a civil judgment against a private citizen than a citizen would to enforce a judgment against a government agency by the same means.

... but police have proven they would do the same to a similarly armed ordinary citizen who had momentarily lost control.

No court room in this country will be safe until we get those da**ed ASSAULT PENS/PENCILS out of the hands of criminals. Donate to “Old Women and other Balless Individuals Against Illegal Writing Instruents” today.

I'm surprised there was an armed marshall in the courtroom. I know a lot of judges who don't allow armed security in their courtroom.

Sounds like a good shoot to me.

Shooting the perp in a crowded courtroom without hitting someone else is good shooting.

the Marshal shot this excrement eight times. there are hundreds of gang members in Ogden alone - and the ACLU is always there to protect them.

Bud, it was in court, in front of a jury. He should simply have tackled the guy and thrown him to the ground and put some cuffs on him.
