Success! Half of Georgia’s Obamacare Enrollees Haven’t Paid Yet

Last week Obama told reporters the GOP was going through the ‘stages of grief’ accepting Obamacare’s success.

Today we found out that more than half of Georgia’s Obamacare enrollees have not paid yet. Georgia Health Care News reported, via The Campaign Spot:

Georgia insurers received more than 220,000 applications for health coverage in the Affordable Care Act’s exchange as of the official federal deadline of March 31, state officials said Wednesday.

Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, though, said premiums have been received for only 107,581 of those policies, which cover 149,465 people.

“Many Georgians completed the application process by the deadline, but have yet to pay for the coverage,” Hudgens said in a statement Wednesday.

I went to the doctor this morning to have blood drawn at their lab and there was a huge sign on the window that said that Dr. XXXXXX and the local hospital would not be accepting Obamacare exchanges insurance. LOL I was a little surprised because my doctor is a Black woman and it is her practice. I love her and would hate to go to anybody else if, heaven forbid, my retiree insurance is cancelled through my former employer and I’m forced to turn to Zerocare.

One of my doctors is a Black woman as well. I don't know where she stands politically. I am assuming that she was/is an Obama supporter simply because statistically, nearly all American Blacks did vote for the ONE. But on my last visit she warned me that she may not be in practice next year. Why? The changes brought on by Obamacare and the changes she sees coming down the pike in the next 10 years or so. The government takeover of medicine has disrupted her practice and caused hardship, frustration, higher employer expenses through increased documentation requirements for the federal government. She said that the fun has gone out of her profession and is actively trying to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life.

Just wait and see how many of those 148k pay their 2nd or 3rd months premiums once they realize the insurance is expensive and essentially worthless.

So why doesn't the GOP step in and drop the mandate and allow anyone who can't find a doctor who meets their needs to drop out? Anyone who wants to get re-elected would have to vote for something so reasonable. Oh, yeah, the 'pubs really want Obamacare to survive, as long as their donors profit.

Who is going to pay back her loans (if they are not paid off already)? What job outside of medicine will afford her that ability?

I am assuming my doctor took care of her debt long ago. But it is very frustrating for her because she has always loved her work. If things had remained the same she would still be loving her job.

BTW, she is not the only doctor I know of personally who has essentially said the same thing.

I haven’t discussed politics with mine either and even though she seems to be conservative, with conservative values such as being married, having her kids in wedlock, going to college, etc. I have known other educated blacks that voted for Obama just to say they voted for the first black president. She is younger than me but still middle age (40’s or so) and I don’t expect her to stay a doctor to an older age either.
