Winter's Coming. And, Boy How We're Going to Wish We Still Had That Luxury Global Warming 'Problem'!
Breitbart's London ^ | April 20, 2014 | James Delingpole

Posted on 04/20/2014 4:12:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Of all the many absurdities of the great climate change non-crisis which has been pointlessly obsessing our planet this last three or four decades, surely the most egregious is the way it has ignored one basic fact: global warming is good. No really, it is. As a few bold heretics - such as Australian geologist Ian Plimer in his book Heaven And Earth - have long been trying to tell anyone prepared to listen, the human species is designed for warmth not cold. Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this - that periods of warming (such as the Minoan, Roman and Medieval Warming Periods) have spurred cultural efflorescence and economic growth, while cooling periods have tended towards pestilence, famine, misery and stagnation. When you think about it, it's pretty obvious: in warmer times it's easier to grow crops, which means that a) fewer people starve and b) instead of struggling to survive, people have time to get on with developing art, literature, trade, civilisation generally...

Now for the bad news. During the last 50 or so years, we have lived through perhaps the most beneficent warming periods the world has known. Now the good times are over. And just round the corner - climatically speaking at any rate - are some very bad times indeed.

How do we know this? Because as author David Archibald argues in perhaps the most depressing but enlightening book you'll read this year - Twilight Of Abundance (Regnery) - we have the evidence of Solar Cycles.

I'm thinking that technology can do a lot to offset much of this.

If that’s the case, there goes 10 and 6 meter DX out the window. Amateur Radio and general bookmark bump.

If it takes Hell freezing over to shut up the warming kooks and their media puppets, so be it.

Global warming might be why humans are here and Neanderthals are not.

Though there are very few Neanderthal skulls, two of them that have sinuses, have an unusual, bony protrusion in their sinuses, which led to the theory that this would have slowed and warmed the passage of very cold air into their trachea. And in very cold weather, this would give them a decided advantage.

However, when the world warmed, this feature, it was theorized, could have resulted in Neanderthals having perpetual and debilitating sinus infections. And might have possibly led to their extinction.

This is the case! Real scientist that have studyed our history have known it for a long time too.

CO2 is a very weak Green house gas and we would need a hell of a lot more of it to sinficantly alter the composition of the earths atmosphere to make a diffrence.

The real driver of Earth’s climate has always been the source of earth’s climate, the Sun. You know that big yellow Flaming Nuclear ball in the sky. It is not and never has been a Static thing. It goes thou cycles both large and small and it is in a constant state of change as it will be until the day it dies taking our little planet with it.

In any even those who have studied human history or even the history of life on this earth know better than to fear a warmer climate. Right now our climate is relatively cold by Earth’s historic standards, and has been locked in a cycle of ice ages for millions of years.

The case of this cycle is most likely the ismoth of pannama cutting off the heat flow between the Atlantic and passfic oceans. But that is geological history. What is also in geological history s a record that should teach any man that Cold is the real enemy of life & prosperity on this earth and always has been.

We are presently in the middle of a intergalactic period, there have already been several of theses periods over the last few million years always followed by regularization of caring degrees and intensity.

What your descendants should know however is that as it is, the Ice will return, and when it does the natural carrying capacity of the earth will drop to much less than the number now currently inhabiting the earth. This will happen over a long period of time thousands of years perhaps. But baring technological break-thou those years will not generally be favorable to our species.

What kind of technology offset 4,000 meters of ice in Chicago?

I majored in Geology in college back in the eighties, with minors in Meteorology and Astronomy. I'm not saying I'm an expert, nor am I a climate scientist--I never used my degrees professionally. I merely throw that out there as a frame of reference where I was exposed to the climate debate of the time.

Back then, the coming ice age was on everyone's lips the way man-made global warming is today. I think it made the cover of Time magazine at one point. Solar activity was somewhat lower then than it has been in recent years. Amateur radio operators have all kinds of stories about how bad the radio bands were back in those days without the Sun heavily irradiating the upper atmosphere. I'm sure a lot of that is subjective.

From a scientific standpoint, we really could not find any direct correlation between human activity and decreasing temperatures, even though non-scientists and those scientists whose livelihoods were tied to grants from the federal government and corporations whose profits are tied to the public being alarmed put out article after article that we are to blame.

Fact is, climate changes constantly, in spite of and despite us. Whether or not we are headed for an ice age, I cannot say. I can say that the warming trend recorded by certain people directly corresponds with--wait for it--increased solar activity. That's right, as the Sun puts out more energy, the temperatures recorded on Earth tend to be warmer. The founder of The Weather Channel has actually been charting this for decades. Who'd have thought that more solar radiation means higher temperatures?

Listen to Joe Bastardi’s weather blog for the next 2 weeks and his comment that all the globull warming folks are ignoring the still frozen great lakes and the slow start to the spring tornado season due to the cold temperatures:

Ronny, as a historian, I endorse your comments.

They will simply shift their baseless arguments to Global cooling as it was in the 1970’s.

When you operate without a real scientific foundation you don’t really need pesky things like predictable results to carry on your political agenda.

“Who’d have thought that more solar radiation means higher temperatures?”

lol Now thats just crazy talk in a modern “university”!

Next thing we know you will be telling us that turning on the stove will cause the water sitting on it to get warmer...

They found a way not to be wrong .... Climate Change .... anything bad (routine and recurring or not) is attributable to climate change which is directly attributable (in their minds or semblance thereof) to mankind. And the debate is over!

Yeah...and as the Sun's magnetic field continues to decline...expect very few or no sunspots after 2017....and the advent of (at best) a 400 year long mini ice age.

This graph from the Canadian Ice Service “clearly shows that the current ice coverage (Great Lakes) is way above the normal (green line).”

“The second highest since the beginning of the satellite measured era (1980) is much lower at 18 percent back in 1996.”

Let’s face it. The issue isn’t global warming. The reason the left is using global warming as their meme is because they poisoned the earth and have only themselves to blame for it.

California is the bastion of green, with fuels and regulations that damage their economy. Yet they are one of the biggest polluters in the US. Look at China, Russia, the middle east and south America. All bigger polluters then us as well as being repressive regimes.

What is man made global warming? POLLUTION!

A “ political agenda. “ to destroy America’s ability to produce and prosper, and keep or stop America’s preeminence as the world’s top military.

Actually, it's not simply the radiance of the sun that affects our climate, it's the magnetic force of the sun, shown by the number of sunspots, that affects the number of cosmic rays that can reach the earth. The fewer sunspots, the more cosmic rays which can create more clouds, blocking the sun's heat, and possibly creating more rain and snow. The more sunspots, the fewer cosmic rays, the less nucleation that forms clouds, so we get more sunlight, thus we get warm.

A good explanation of this was put forth by Henrik Svensmark in his book "The Chilling Stars: A Cosmic View of Climate Change". It's written so that even non-scientists can understand it, and it's a great read.
