Who could be the next Ted Cruz? Top 10 tea party primaries of 2014
Yahoo! News / The Christian Science Monitor ^ | April 17, 2014

In five years, the tea party has launched some of the most charismatic and controversial Republicans in office today, including Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Who are the movement’s top candidates this cycle, and what are their prospects? Here’s a look:

1. Mississippi: Chris McDaniel vs. Thad Cochran

In the early going, tea party-backed state Sen. Chris McDaniel was seen as the strongest challenger to a sitting US senator this cycle. He’s a young (early 40s), energetic trial lawyer and former talk radio host, with six years' service in the state legislature – and he believes six-term Sen. Thad Cochran (R) is part of the problem in Washington.

The challenge for Mr. McDaniel is to persuade enough Republican voters in the June 3 primary to toss out a senior senator who is skilled at bringing federal dollars to Mississippi. McDaniel ran into trouble after qualifying his support for Katrina aid, a lifeline in this state.

The tea party movement gives McDaniel’s campaign energy on the ground, though Senator Cochran supporters are starting to wake up. Cochran beat McDaniel in fundraising for the first quarter of 2014 by more than 3 to 1.

McDaniel has run into other problems. An audio clip surfaced from his old radio show, with McDaniel making provocative comments about Mexicans, women, and slaves. Cochran is now looking a bit stronger than he was early in the race.

But if McDaniel pulls off an upset, the Democrats have a candidate ready to take him on: former US Rep. Travis Childers. Democrats hope McDaniel wins the primary, then blows up in the general, as has happened in the last two cycles with tea party-backed nominees. A Democratic pickup in deep-red Mississippi is improbable....

In Oklahoma, T J Shannon is a Black, American Indian running to replace Tom Coburn. He was the Speaker of the State senate. Please support him. Very Conservative.

Speaking of that, Governor Sarah Palin’s husband, children and grandchildren are all Native Americans. Why is the Left never called racist when attacking them?

Who care if he is black or native American...

Right. Clarence Thomas doesn't matter either. Or Thomas Sowell

Why are you looking at the next Tex Curz when you have the original here and ready to fight? What the heck are you really talking about anyway!

As most do, we respond to the article. I assumed that most always take it that way - not personally as to who posted the news... Are you feeling persecuted, not my intention. Just another comment about the article you posted!

Oh, okay. The way you phrased it made me think that you thought that I was looking for another Ted Cruz. My mistake.

Actually, I reread my comment and can understand why you took it that way...my bad! I always tend to comment about the article regardless of who posted it - that does tend to get me into trouble though - have to change my reference I guess. I apologize for any negative reference toward the poster (you in this instance).

Regarding the headline... Ted Cruz is a 'oner'. There are no others like him at this time. He probably knows the Constitution better than anyone in Congress (or the Obama regime) and he sticks to his belief in his oath. ...Sarah is another 'oner', though from a background very different, who firmly believes in the Constitution. IMO, the other names being put forth as possible GOP nominees are lacking in comparison, because each of them are squishy on various issues that matter to Conservatives (and a couple of them are not even eligible to be POTUS because when they were born in the US their parents were foreign citizens).

...are all Native Americans.
****************************
I’m a Native American, derived from many generations. Everyone born on the Continent is a Native American.

Palin’s husband is an American Indian; a term that refers to various tribes of indiginous people from South America up through Canada (where they choose to call them First Natives).

I’m really tired of the ‘politically correct’ language!
