Trojan Horse Amnesty Update (Entire DREAM Act folded into "must-pass" Defense bill?)
The National Review's The Corner ^ | April 18, 2014 | Mark Krikorian

Posted on 04/19/2014 2:57:32 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The Wall Street Journal reported last night that House Speaker John Boehner told donors at a fundraiser last month in Las Vegas that he was “hellbent on getting this done this year,” in reference to an amnesty/immigration bill. His spokesman did not dispute the account.

In related news, President Obama is meeting with the National Commander of the American Legion this morning. Ordinarily, that would mean little, but the meeting comes just days after the Legion came out against a plan to amnesty illegal aliens who join the military. The number of people who would benefit from such an amnesty is miniscule (and there’s already a statutory means of allowing them to enlist), so why would the president take time out to summon the head of the Legion for a tiny, redundant immigration provision?

Because it’s a Trojan Horse — if it’s included in the must-pass defense authorization bill when it’s sent to the Senate, Harry Reid can expand it into a larger amnesty confident in the knowledge that it would have to be passed. I’ve been told by a Republican House member that the Democrat (and, presumably, “hellbent” House leadership) plan is to add the entire DREAM Act to the defense bill once it gets to the Senate — I guess that adding the entire Gang of Eight bill would be a bridge too far even for Boehner and Cantor.

You are the second poster I’ve seen make that claim.

I don’t disagree, but I don’t agree either.

I have not seen Cruz take a position on this matter.

I hope Boehner and the boys have a plan to get the illegals to vote for them. I’m not on the Republican plantation anymore. The same goes for a lot of my friends. I guess we all got tired of the Republicans peeing on our legs and telling us it’s raining.

Back to take another unfounded shot at Ted Cruz? There are a number of like minded anti Ted Cruz jihadists who pop up to take similar shots at Ted.

Duncan Hunter is on the fence. What percent of illegals want to serve for a legitimate reason?

http://www.scpr.org/blogs/politics/2014/04/04/16289/california-republican-congressman-denham-pushes-im/

GOP Congressman Duncan Hunter of El Cajon in San Diego County says the legislation makes sense considering that fewer than one percent of America’s population is serving in the military.

“If somebody wants to serve the nation, then they can serve the nation,” said Hunter, a Marine veteran.

But Hunter said if the measure came up as an amendment to the defense budget, he doesn’t know how he would vote.

“You don’t want to kill the defense bill,” Hunter said.

The defense bill is going to have H1B visas, and that’s it. They’re not going to budge past that, and that’s what all the grandstanding has been about on the left, with discharge petition attempts and whining and bellowing. The media shills have been assisting by publishing agitprop like the purported “hell-bent” remark. It’s total BS.

Why is it in the NDAA?

Will Durbin filibuster the NDAA if his coalition breaks?

Go ahead Duncan—pass the `Democratic Rule For The Next 100 Years’ Act.
And slip some gun control in, as well as the need for automatic premium increases to fund Obamacare.
Let’s make it a trifecta for conservatives and other working Americans. Then the middle of the country will help us root-out Republicrats as well as Democraps in the midterms.
Then we can repeal the Affordable Care act, put the 1968 `Saturday Night Special’ act in the grave for good and get to work securing our southwestern border.
Then we take Weepy John’ Boehner for a ride in the country, take back the White House and finally get to work on a long list of other things.

Why shouldn’t it be? If immigration issues aren’t a matter of national defense, WHAT IS?

I still don’t see a link showing Ted Cruz is taking a position on immigration which is objectionable.

I just browsed the first page you linked to. 50 responses, as well as the original article. (I didn’t however link to the links which showed up)

I don’t see any example of Ted Cruz stepping out of a reasonable position.

Not saying he’s right. Not saying he’s wrong. But I have yet to see any examples of him being wrong on this.

Still waiting for real evidence.

His position (at the time) was let illegals stay in the USA. Lots of folks here consider that amnesty. Ann Coulter believes (and I do too) that all illegals that are allowed to stay will be given citizenship, that legalizing them will automatically lead to citizenship. Amnesty. I am not going to argue the merits or lack of, just saying what his position was a couple of years ago. I hope he has rethought the issue because being in favor of a mass amnesty is a deal breaker for me. I like Cruz, I voted for him, but his feet need to be held to the fire on the issue of illegal immigration.

Whatever passes the House will be shredded in ‘Conference’. The Dems will get everything they want..........and no border fence, so the illegals can just keep coming and registering to vote.
