Just Like the Lutheran Church being corrupted by Hitler in the run up to WWII
This is not entirely accurate, since, from the very beginning, the patriarchs of the ROC have all been KGB agents, including the current one who was outed some time ago. This is like saying that the church was corrupted only recently, when, really, it’s been under Kremlin control for a long time.

Under communism the orthodox church of Russia was persecuted. Churches were destroyed or turned into government buildings, clergy were imprisoned and killed, God was forbidden.
The ROC was later rehabilitated and used for communist purposes, and its ranks filled with informants in the confessional and commies at the altar, as it is today, with the Kremlin directing its messages to the sheep.
If you noticed my comparison it was that of the Lutheran Church in the 1930s as Hitler came to power....Hitler made sure all of the seminaries were filled with his people...and the rest is obvious.
The Soviet Union (formerly known as Russia) did the same thing when the tsar was over thrown. The ‘church’ had to be state approved and we all know what that means.
You and I agree this is not a new thing at all. It is part of why I laugh when people tell me what a wonderful Christian Putin is and how Christian ‘Russia’ is becoming
Ahh I understand you now. Yes, indeed, one does not know whether to laugh or cry when people call Putin a “Christian.”
So far people in the US and EU have never failed to be suckers for Mooze Lame misdirection and those silly Christians worldwide can't resist fighting one another when there's a buck to be made.
"Evil Russian Church", "evil Putin", "evil Russians", "save the poor Muzzie Tartars", looks like there's a major Mooze Lame push coming somewhere east of the Ukraine or along the Atlantic coast of Europe.
Sound like an oxymoron to me...
Yup, Russia is the least of our problems over there and no one seems to care about them in our own back yard (along with the Chinese and Iranians). Meanwhile Israel is backing away from us and getting closer to Russia.
