The Stupid Hounding of Condi Rice
Politico ^ | April 16,2014 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 04/17/2014 6:20:09 PM PDT by prairiebreeze

Rice’s recent speaking gigs on college campuses and her ascension to the board of the file-sharing company Dropbox have sparked protests calling for her to be disinvited, cashiered and generally isolated and shamed

--snip--

When the University of Minnesota invited her to give a lecture Thursday as part of a series marking the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, the herd of independent minds that is the school’s faculty roused itself.

Roughly 200 of them demanded that the invitation be revoked, mostly for her association with George W. Bush’s interrogation and detention policies, but also because she is unfit to be part of a civil-rights lecture series

"The leaders of the University of Minnesota, Rutgers and Dropbox have refused to dump Rice. In today’s context, their stalwartness almost qualifies as courageous acts of conscience."

Give it time....they'll cave.

Rice is an intelligent woman with her own opinions which are not in lock step with the Marxists in the administration and their supporters. From what I can tell, she isn’t a crony capitalist with the doctrinaire opinions they have.

Dangerous woman!!!

Is this headline a play on words?

They’ve sent the hounds after one that got off the liberal plantation.

Didn’t Rice grow up in segregated Birmingham?

I’d say she’s more qualified than most of the brats who attend UofM.

The leftist Star Tribune Editorial today was “Welcome Dr. Rice”.It was fine.

Even the Trib was embarrassed by the leftist cranks agitating against her in recent weeks.

Id venture to say 99% cant hold water to her intellectually at that university. Liberals loathe those success stories that fall outside their agenda. Self made hard working woman breaks the chain of childhood poverty to become one of the most successful highly achieved woman of superior intellect and confidence. The liberals foam at the mouth over this.

The Minnesota professors say that it is in a “spirit of free expression” that they ask for the reversal of Rice’s invitation. Because nothing says free expression like shutting down someone’s lecture.

Well, maybe their next “spirit of free expression” could be a big book burning party like their Nazi ancestors used to have.

Nazi students and SA unloading "un-German" books as fuel for a book burning on May 10, 1933 in Berlin, Germany. The SA (Sturmabteilung or "Stormtroopers") was the Nazi paramilitary organization under Ernst Röhm. The banner on the back of the truck states, "German students march against the un-German spirit."

I have no doubt that these 'professors' can mobilize their 'students' in a similar fashion.

Any faculty who participated in this should be continually hounded with investigations, write-ups, and tenure reviews until they finally have strokes and die, or resign. Thanks prairiebreeze. Additional topic, all. There’s plenty of snarkiness in this piece such that it tiptoes up to the edge of being a partisan shill hit piece.

The same things that make her less than welcome on the right; she'll never be a lockstepper. Admirable and dangerous!

I understand that completely!
